Midnight Liturgy at the St. Sava Cathedral on Vrachar

At midnight between January 6 and 7, 2010, his Grace Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno served the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy at St. Sava Memorial Cathedral in Vrachar.

Christmas Eve in Belgrade

Christmas Eve in the Serbian capital was officially celebrated at the plateau in front of the St. Sava Memorial Cathedral in Vracar.  Following holidays's vigil service served by His Grace Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno, the Yule log was placed on the fire at the plateau, where lots of pious people were present.

Christmas Eve celebrated nationwide

At the Cathedral church in Sremski Karlovci evening service was by  Bishop Vasilije of Srem, with the concelebration of priesthood of Karlovac, and then he consecrated the Yule log burned at the fountain "Four lions" on the main square. The Yule log has been placed tonight in both churches in Loznica, as well as in all parish and monastery churches in Jadar, in the presence of lots of the faithful. Despite the heavy rain, burning of the yule log in Loznica, in the church of Holy protection of the Theotokos and in the new church of the Ascension of the Lord, was attended by hundreds of the faithful. In the same way it was also in the nearby monasteries and Tronosha and Chokeshina and in temples in Banja Koviljacha, Draginac and in other places in Jadar.

Archbishop Amfilohije consecrates Yule logs in front of the Church of the Resurrection of Christ

In the presence and with the participation of several thousand citizens of Podgorica His Eminence Archbishop of Cetinje, Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral Amfilohije consecrated the Yule logs in front of the church of the Resurrection of Christ in Podgorica.

Christmas gatherings commence at the Russian Hall

His Grace Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno, with the blessing of Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral, Locum Tenens of the throne of the Serbian patriarchs, blessed the beginning of the traditional Christmas gatherings organized by the Russian Hall in Belgrade and the Podvorye of the Russian Orthodox Church, which has been commencing for 15 years on Christmas Eve and lasting until the end of January.

Academician Matija Beckovic receives Order of St. Sava of the Second Class

Today at the Patriarchal court in Belgrade, on behalf of the Holy Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church, His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral, Locum Tenens of the throne of the Patriarchs of Serbia, presented the Order of St. Sava II Class to the academician Matija Beckovic. This highest distinction of the Serbian Orthodox Church was assigned to him for his proven love for Mother Church.
