"Arcanum Angelorum" ("Mystery of the Angels") Exhibit by American Artist Guillermo Esparza

An exhibit of sacred art - "Arcanum Angelorum"("Mystery of the Angels") - with works by Guillermo Esparza, award-winning, internationally recognized American iconographer, painter, and sculptor, will be displayed in St. Patrick's Old Cathedral. The opening reception is on Thursday, February 26 from 6 to 9 pm and the show will run through July 31, 2009. The exhibit will commemorate the Bicentennial Celebration of the Cathedral located in the historic SoHo neighborhood in New York City and the restoration of the tabernacle of the church by the artist-in-residence, Guillermo Esparza. The exhibition will feature recent paintings of angels in oil, icons in egg tempera and gold, drawings, as well as sculptures and mural designs. The exhibit will take place in the undercroft of the Old Cathedral in the Holy Name Chapel, opposite 263 Mulberry Street.

Fordham University Announces Archbishop Demetrios Chair

The President of Fordham University, Fr. Joseph M. McShane, S.J. announced Tuesday Feb. 17, a Jaharis Family Foundation gift establishing the Archbishop Demetrios Chair in Orthodox Theology and Culture as part of the Orthodox Christian Studies Program of this renowned Roman-Catholic Jesuit University.

Orthodox Music Society Launches Expanded Website

The International Society for Orthodox Church Music (ISOCM) recently launched an expanded version of their website at www.isocm.com which will enable the Society to enhance the development of musical resources throughout the worldwide family of Orthodox Churches. quot;Orthodox musicians are found in all corners of the world today, and the ISOCM wants to reinforce the unity of Orthodox Christianity in tangible ways for those living in modern society," according to the Rev. Ivan Moody, ISOCM Board Chairman, "The expanded ISOCM website will serve as a portal to Orthodox music resources on the web."

10th session of the Assembly of the Society for building Cathedral of St. Sava is held

On Thursday, February 19, 2009 a regular annual session of the Assembly of the Society for building St. Sava Cathedral at Vrachar, where was discussed about the works on the cathedral in last year. Then there were presented  a plan and a building program for 2009 and aplan of activities of the Society for building St. Sava Cathedral for current year.
