Procession of the cross in honour of St. John of Rila starts in Bulgaria

Officiating was His Eminence Archbishop Mark of Berlin and Germany of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, Overseer of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem. He was joined by Archimandrite Roman (Krassovsky), Chief of the REM, as well as visiting clergymen.
New York Street may be Named in Honor of Holy Patriarch Tikhon
6. August 2014 - 11:23The Northern Cross Historical Society of Russian Compatriots in the USA has proposed naming a street in New York City after Holy Patriarch Tikhon (Belavin) of Moscow and All Russia (1865-1925), reports ITAR-TASS.
This initiative is supported by Russians and Orthodox Americans living in New York, hierarchs of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia and the Patriarchal parishes in the USA.
“The petition concerning this will be submitted to the mayor’s office in the next few days, in September it will go through the City Council, and we feel certain that in the coming months we will have a Patriarch Tikhon Street in the city,” said the president of the Northern Cross Society, Yuri Sandulov. It is supposed to extend along East 97th Street from Park Avenue to Fifth Avenue.

August 2014 - 11:34On August 1, 2014, the Day of the Founding of the Relics of St. Seraphim of Sarov, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Memorial Church of St. George the Conqueror on Poklonnaya Hill in Moscow. On that day one hundred years ago, Russia entered into World War I.
During the liturgy, Archimandrite Ioann (Rochshin) was consecrated as Bishop of Naro-Fominsk, Vicar of the Diocese of Moscow.
His Holiness was assisted by high-ranking church hierarchs and Moscow clergy. Among the worshippers were Kaliningrad Governor N. Tsukanov, Western Administrative District Prefect A. Alexandrov and other city officials.
After the Prayer of Fervent Supplication, the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church lifted up a prayer for peace in Ukraine.
The congregation also prayed for the repose of the souls of “servants of God, Orthodox Christians, commanders and soldiers who gave their lives in the battlefield for the faith, tsar and Fatherland during World War I”.
