Report about situation in Japanese Orthodox Church after devastating quake and tsunami

With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Longin of Nova Gracanica-Midwestern America after several attempts we made the contact with the Orthodox Church in Japan. Metropolitan Danilo, the head of the Japanese Orthodox Church and the priesthood were very touched by the care of the Serbian Orthodox Church and our people towards Japanese brothers and sisters who sisters who undergo tough temptations.

Celebration of Sunday of Orthodoxy in Venice

On Sunday of Orthodoxy, March 13, 2011, His Eminence Metropolitan Gennadios of Italy and Malta of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople served the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the church of St. George the Great Martyr in Venice. After the Liturgy there was a procession around the church in honor of the victory of the Orthodoxy over iconoclasts. 

Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk met US Vice-President Joseph Biden in Moscow

On March 10, 2011, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate's department for external church relations, visited the residence of the US Ambassador in Moscow to meet with US Vice-President Joseph Biden who has come to Russia for a working visit. Metropolitan Hilarion was accompanied by Archimandrite Zacchaeus (Wood), representative of the Orthodox Church in America to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia.

Divine Liturgy commemorating Patriarch Constantine VI

On Sunday, March 6, 2011, His All-Holiness presided at the Divine Liturgy in the Patriarchal Church of St. George in memory of the late Ecumencal Patriarch Constantine VI, whose remains were recently returned to the Phanar in order to be appropriately and respectfully laid to rest at Baloukli Monastery. Concelebrating hierarchs included Metropolitans Kyrillos of Imvros and Tenedos, John of Pergamon, Iakovos of the Princes Islands, Meliton of Philadelphia, Demetrios of Sebasteia, Constantine of Nea Ionia and Philadelphias, Chrysostomos of Myra and Theoliptos of Iconium.

In attendence were other hierarchs of the Throne, as well as the Hon. George Petroulakis, General Secretary of Communication of the Ministry of Interior of Greece, and Ambassador Leonidas Chrysanthopoulos, Secretary General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation Black Sea, and the Consul General of Greece in Istanbul, Vasileios Bornovas. Among the distinguished guests was the niece of the late Ecumenical Patriarch, Ms. Inglizoglou Helen.

21 Years Of Hierarchism Of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel Celebrated In The Patriarchal Cathedral

On the first Sunday of the Lent, on the Orthodoxy Sunday, the Patriarch of Romanian celebrated the Divine Liturgy, assisted by a group of priests and deacons. To end with the Divine Liturgy, the 21 years of hierarchism of the Primate of the Romanian Orthodox Church were emphasised. His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel was ordained bishop on the Orthodoxy Sunday, on 4 March 1990, in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Timisoara, by His Eminence Nestor, Metropolitan of Olteniei, His Eminence Nicolae, Metropolitan of Banat and by His Eminence Timotei, Archbishop of Arad.
