On November 18, 2018, festive events to mark the 60th anniversary of the Damascus Representation of the Russian Orthodox Church were held in the Syrian capital city. The Divine Liturgy at the Representation’s church of the Holy Martyr Ignatius the God-Bearer was celebrated by His Holiness John X, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East. He was assisted by Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate department for external church relations (DECR), Metropolitans George of Homs, Basil of Akkar, Nicholas of Hama; Niphon of Philippople, representative of the Patriarch of Antioch to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia; Athanasius of Latakia; as well as several bishops and clergy of the Patriarchate of Antioch. Among the concelebrants were also the rector of the ROC Damascus Representation Archimandrite Philip (Vasiltsev), and the representative of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia to the Patriarch of Antioch Hegumen Arseny (Sokolov), and the DECR secretary for inter-Christian relations Hieromonk Stephan (Igumnov).

The Arvo Pärt Project co-presented an incredible concert featuring the Estonian Orthodox composer’s music on Monday evening, November 12, 2018, in New York City. The Project partnered St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary with Sacred Music in a Sacred Space for the event.

Tuesday, November 13, 2018 - The 11th Annual Joint Orthodox Prayer Service for the United Nations Community, was celebrated at St. Vartan Armenian Orthodox Cathedral in New York City. The Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch hosted the gathering, which was organized by the Joint Commission of Oriental and Eastern Orthodox Churches, made up of the Standing Conference of Oriental Orthodox Churches and the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops in America. His Eminence Archbishop Dionysios of the Eastern United States led the service.

Ukrainian autocephalists attack residence of Metropolitan of Krivoy Rog

Several dozen Ukrainian activists in favor of Constantinople creating a new, autocephalous church in Ukraine storm the residence of His Eminence Metropolitan Ephraim of Krivoy Rog on Saturday.

Brandishing posters campaigning for the new church, they tried to break down the Metropolitan’s door and gate and shouted insults at him, reports the site of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

The Council of Bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which gathered in the Holy Dormition-Kiev Caves Lavra on November 13, 2018, having heard His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine on the challenges that have arisen recently before the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, adopted the following:

1. The Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which is canonical and recognized by the Local Orthodox Churches, fulfilling its service to God and the people of Ukraine, fundamentally supports the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine. The Ukrainian Orthodox Church is present in all regions of Ukraine and unites both those territories controlled and those not controlled by Ukrainian authorities, experiencing all the joys and sufferings together with its people.

The reliquary containing a particle of the holy relics of Saint John Chrysostom was carried in procession around the National Cathedral’s Chapel on Monday evening, Nov. 12, during the All-night Vigil in honor of the Saint.
