The Serbian Patriarch received the President of Ukraine

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, received in   His Excellency Peter Poroshenko, President of Ukraiine, at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade on 3 July 2018.

The President of Ukraine thanked His Holiness for the cordial reception, during which they talked about various challenges that the two brotherly peoples, Serbians and Ukrainians, have been facing. Serbian Patriarch Irinej told President Poroshenko that he highly appreciated the position of the Ukrainian government regarding the status of the southern Serbian province of Kosovo and Metohia and the readiness of the President to help while reconstructing and protecting Serbian Orthodox shrines there. On his part, His Holiness emphasized that he had been praying for peace in Ukraine and expressed his firm hope that all local problems would be solved by peaceful means in a fair way.

A center for the elderly was recently opened under the auspices of the Albanian Orthodox Church on Mach 19, and this past Sunday, on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the election of His Beatitude Archbishop Anastasios to the Albanian primatial throne, the center was festively blessed by a hierarch of the Church, reports the site of the Albanian Orthodox Church.

Plans Underway To Build 4th Orthodox Church In Chechnya

Plans are underway to build a new Orthodox church in Grozny, the capital city of the Chechen Republic, republic head Ramzan Kadyrov said in a recent interview with Izvestia.

Upon completion, there will be just four Orthodox parishes in the entire republic, and two active parishes in Grozny.

40 gypsy children baptized in Achaea

A joyous mass Baptism was celebrated in Achaea in Western Greece on Wednesday.

On that day, His Eminence Metropolitan Chrysostomos visited the village of Sageika to baptize 40 gypsy children from families living permanently in the area, Romfea reports.

This was not the first such Baptism celebrated by the metropolitan—there have been six in the past few years in Sageika and Riganokampos, preceded by the necessary spiritual formation. About 100 children in total have been baptized thus far.

Graduation at the end of one’s studies is always a key moment in every young student's life, but it gets a deeper meaning when the whole work and study is dedicated to God. On June 12, 2018, at the Resurrection of Christ Theological Academy, at the Monastery of St. Vlash in Durres, the day of graduation involved academic as well as spiritual joy for the achievement of such an important objective in life and finally being able to serve the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania in all its areas. This year, eleven new graduates successfully completed their four years of studies at the Academy.
