Greek Archdiocese publishes prayer book and Liturgy in braille

The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America recently published three books in braille for the benefit of blind Orthodox Christians. The books, Speaking to God by His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios, Geron of America, My Orthodox Prayer Book, and The Divine Liturgy of St. Chrysostom, went on sale yesterday on the archdiocese’s Orthodox Marketplace.

On 2 October 2017, after his visit to the Church of Archangel Michael, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia saw the historical sights of Bukhara.

Sculptures of 16 Russian patriarchs to be installed soon at Christ the Savior

People’s Artist of Russia sculptor Salavat Scherbakov has begun the final phase of the creation of the sculptures of 16 patriarchs of the Russian Orthodox Church which will be installed at Moscow’s Christ the Savior Cathedral, reports Orthodox Moscow.

The solemn opening of the sculptures of the first hierarchs of All Russia is scheduled for November 29, marking the climax of the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the restoration of the patriarchate in the Russian Church. The statues will be installed on the stylobate surrounding the upper part of Christ the Savior Cathedral.

Archbishop Ieronymos II: Kosovo and Metohija are Serbian Acropolis

Minister of Defense of the Republic of Serbia Mr. Aleksandar Vulin, who is on a two-day visit to Greece, met with Archbishop Ieronymos II of Athens and All Greece and on that occasion he thanked the Greek Orthodox Church for the support that it had been giving to the preservation of Serbian identity and Orthodoxy on Kosovo and Metohija.

Archbishop Ieronymos says that Kosovo and Metohija are “the Serbian Acropolis”, emphasizing that wherever the voice of the Greek Orthodox Church is heard, and it is heard very far and it is very influential, and consequently it will repeat that Kosovo and Metohija are Serbian and that all holy places in Kosovo and Metohija are Serbian.

Bishop Irinej lectures at “For the Life of the World” Conference

From September 21–24, 2017, Orthodox Vision Foundation (OVF) sponsored an Advanced Leadership Initiative Conference entitled, “For the Life of the World” at St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary in Yonkers, NY. It has been called by many of the pre-selected 65 attendees “historic” and “groundbreaking.” They were welcomed to the program by Co-Trustee of OVF Charles Ajalat, and Archpriest Chad Hatfield, president of St. Vladimir’s Seminary. The goals of the Conference were: to build advanced leadership skills and deeper faith and bonding among the attendees, to improve Orthodox ministries, to mentor younger Orthodox, and to help those who, one day in their life, might want to transition from the profit to the non-profit world. In a two-hour reflection session, the attendees unanimously expressed that they were excited, joyous, and inspired by what they experienced at the Conference.
