Metropolitan Onufry addresses Poroshenko in connection with the events in Katerinovka

Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev and All Ukraine has appealed to the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in connection with the violent assault on Orthodox believers in the Katerinovka village of the Kremenets district of the Ternopil region, reports Pravlife.org.

Moscow theological schools delegation visits Georgia

September 18-20, 2015 – A delegation of Moscow Theological Academy (MTA) was on a visit to Georgia. It was led by Archbishop Yevgeny of Vereya, chairman of the ROC Education Committee and MTA rector.

The Theological School of the Church of Cyprus Opens to 25 Students

"The establishment of the Theological School of the Church of Cyprus comes at a time when our country is in need of shining examples," said President of the Republic, NicosAnastasiades who inaugurated the School together with Archbishop Chrysostomos II on the grounds of the Archbishopric.

Archbishop Chrysostomos described a particularly glorious day for the Church of Cyprus, noting that the establishment of the Theological School serves a growing need of the Church of Cyprus to cultivate its own Theological Education.

Assembly Convenes Sixth Annual Meeting in Chicago

Chicago, IL--The Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States of America convened its sixth annual meeting Tuesday, September 15 in Chicago, IL with 45 hierarchs in attendance. The day began with a celebration of the Divine Liturgy at St John the Baptist Orthodox Church in Des Plaines, IL.

Archbishop Demetrios, Chairman of the Assembly, opened the meeting. His remarks can be read here in their entirety. General business followed, including acceptance of the minutes from Assembly V, a financial report from the Assembly’s treasurer, Metropolitan Antony, and brief reports from the Secretary of the Assembly, Bishop Basil, and the Chairman of the Committees, Bishop Maxim. Metropolitan Antony reported that a budget shortfall is expected and expressed his hope that the hierarchs would seek donations from the faithful to meet the shortfall. Bishop Maxim called attention to the committees that have been particularly active to-date: Agencies and Endorsed Organizations, Canonical Regional Planning, Ecumenical Relations, Financial Affairs, Legal Affairs, Pastoral Practice, Monastic Communities, and Youth.

Metropolitan Hilarion visits EXPO 2015 and takes part in presentation of Russian edition of the works of St Ambrose of Milan

On 14 September 2015, during his working visit to Milan, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, visited the Russian Pavilion at EXPO 2015, where he took part in the opening of a photo exhibition on the Mission of the Russian Orthodox Church in the Modern World, organized by St Gregory the Theologian Foundation with the assistance of the Cariplo Foundation, Intesa Bank, and PJSC Gazprom.
