Feast at the chapel of the Annunciation of the Dormition of Theotokos

On Tuesday, the 12^th/25^th of August 2015, a Divine Liturgy was held at the Chapel of the Annunciation of the Dormition of Theotokos, within the Galili Viri Monastery, where according to tradition, the Theotokos received the message of her Dormition by the Archangel Gabriel.

The icon of the Theotokos carried to Gethsemane

Before dawn on the morning of Tuesday the 12^th/25^th of August 2015, a procession began of the icon of the Dormition of Theotokos, from the Dependency of Gethsemane opposite the Church of the Resurrection, to the Tomb of the Mother of God in Gethseman.

The procession was preceded by a Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Resurrection and the aforementioned Dependency.

Orthodox monastery in New South Wales celebrates its patronal feast

On Wednesday, August 19, 2015, the feast of Transfiguration of the Lord, His Grace Bishop George (Schaefer) of Canberra, Vicar Bishop of the Diocese of Australia and New Zealand of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR), headed the celebrations of the patronal feast of the Holy Transfiguration’s Monastery, situated in Bombala in New South Wales (Southeastern Australia), at the foot of the Snowy Mountains, reports the official website of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.

‘Wish Trees’ Attract Visitors in Saint Voukolos Greek Orthodox Church

The olive and myrtle tree saplings that Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and İzmir mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu planted on February 6 at the exterior space of Saint Voukolos Greek Orthodox Church have now become main tourist attractions.

According to Orthodox Christian historians, Saint Voukolos lived during the early Christian times and was the first Christian bishop of Smyrna (present-day İzmir).

Brest exhibition highlights Russian Orthodox Church during Great Patriotic War

The exhibition "Russian Orthodox Church during the Great Patriotic war" was opened at the Russian Science and Culture Center in Brest, BelTA has learned.

The exhibition presents the archival documents and photographs which used to belong to Patriarchs Sergius and Alexy I. Many documents have not been published before. This is the first time they have been made available to the general public as they were declassified just a few years ago. This makes the exhibition unique. It tells visitors about the activities of the Russian Orthodox Church during the war and its role in the international arena in the postwar years.

A delegation of the Bulgarian Government officials visits the Patriarchate of Jerusalem

On Thursday, the 8^th/20^th of August, a delegation of ten officials of the Bulgarian Government and esteemed members of the Bulgarian society, performing humanitarian work under Mr Ragev Menasche from Israel, visited the Patriarchate.
