Baptizer of Rus’ commemorated on Phuket Island
3. August 2015 - 15:27On July 28, 2015, the commemoration day of St Vladimir Equal-to-the-Apostles, the millennium of his repose was marked in Thailand.
In accordance with the clergy’s joint decision, the celebrations took place at the Parish of the Life-Giving Trinity on Phuket Island. All-Night Vigil celebrated on the eve of the feast was followed on the feast day itself by the Divine Liturgy celebrated by Archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin), representative of the Russian Orthodox Church in Thailand. He was assisted by the clergy of the ROC Representation serving in several churches in Thailand and Cambodia.

3. August 2015 - 11:56On Tuesday the 15th/28th of July 2015, their Beatitudes, Patriarch Theodoros of Alexandria and Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus, visited the Patriarchate. They had traveled from Cyprus, accompanied by Protopresbyter, Mr Athenodoros Papaevryviadous.
Albanian Orthodox bishop visits the Conception Convent in Moscow

July 2015 - 14:51On July 27, 2015, Bishop Nathaniel of Amantia, who came to Moscow as a member of the delegation of the Albanian Orthodox Church for the celebrations dedicated to the 1000th anniversary of repose of the Holy Prince Vladimir, visited the Moscow Stavropegic Convent in honor of the Conception of the Virgin Mary by St. Anne. The hierarch with those who accompanied him were received by Abbess Juliana (Kaleda) with sisters. The mother-abbess took him round the cathedral and arranged tours of the underground temples and the museum of the history of the convent, along with the Church in honor of the Descend of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and the Dormition “cave” Church.
Relics of Holy Prince Vladimir to arrive for large-scale celebrations in Belgorod

July 2015 - 14:43The large-scale celebrations dedicated to the 1000th anniversary of repose of the Holy Prince Vladimir, Equal-to-the-Apostles, will be held in the Russian city of Belgorod on August 1, reports the Synodal Information Department. As is generally known, wishing to fortify the state boundaries, St. Vladimir founded a number of walled cities, and Belgorod became the most important of them.
Nun of Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate murdered in Kiev
30. July 2015 - 15:11Sister Alevtina, a nun of Florovsky Convent in Kiev, was found murdered in her apartment on Wednesday, Interfax-Religion was told at the Union of Christian Orthodox Brotherhoods of Ukraine.
"We know that she went to her city apartment to wash and change before undergoing a surgical operation [there is no hot water in the convent at present]. However, later her nephew found the nun's body with her hands tied and traces of torture," a spokesman said.
Priest attacked in Kiev dies
30. July 2015 - 15:08Kiev priest Roman Nikolayev (Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate), died of gunshot wounds on Wednesday morning at the age of 40.
"The venue of the funeral service and the burial place of the newly departed priest Roman Nikolayev will be reported later," the Ukrainian Orthodox Church reported on its website.
