Grand reception in Kremlin on the occasion of the millennium of the demise of Prince Vladimir

A grand reception was given in the Kremlin by the President of Russia on the occasion of the millennium of the demise of the Holy Prince Vladimir Equal-to-the-Apostles.

Present at the reception were His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, permanent members of the Holy Synod, heads of the ROC synodal departments, bishops and clergy of the Moscow Patriarchate, the delegations of Local Orthodox Churches who came to Moscow for the celebrations, representatives of the traditional religions in Russia, state officials and public figures.

Reception is given on behalf of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill in honour of delegations of the Local Orthodox Churches

In the evening of 27 July 2015, after the meeting of the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church with representatives of the Local Orthodox Churches who had arrived in Moscow to take part in the celebrations marking the millennium of the demise of the Holy Prince Vladimir, Equal-to-the-Apostles, a reception was given on behalf of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill in honour of the delegations of the Local Orthodox Churches.

Among those who spoke during the reception were Metropolitan Nikodimos of Memphis (Church of Alexandria), Metropolitan Niphon of Philippopolis (Church of Antioch), Metropolitan Timotheos of Bostra (Church of Jerusalem), Bishop Vakhtang of Nikortsminda (Georgian Church), Metropolitan Amfilohije of Crna Gora and Primorje (Serbian Church), Metropolitan Nifon of Târgovişte (Romanian Church), Metropolitan Dometian of Vidin (Bulgarian Church), Bishop Nektarios of Arsinoë (Church of Cyprus), Metropolitan Amvrosios of Kalavryta (Church of Greece), Bishop Naphanael of Amantia (Albanian Church), Bishop George of Siemiatycze (Polish Church), Archbishop Juraj of Michalovce and Košice (Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia), and Archbishop Irénée of Ottawa and Canada (Orthodox Church in America). In their speeches, the representatives of the Local Orthodox Churches thanked His Holiness Patriarch Kirill for the invitation to take part in the celebrations marking the millennium of the demise of the Holy Prince Vladimir, Equal-to-the-Apostles, and conveyed to him messages of greeting from the Primates of their Churches.

Ukrainian Miners Build a Church at the Depth of 800 Meters

St. Barbara Chapel has been opened at the depth of 840 meters in the Expluatatsionnnaya mine in the Zaporozhye Region, Ukraine.

Bishop Yefrem of Berdyansk and Primorsk consecrated the church, the local press service reports.

The Great Martyr Barbara is a heavenly protector of coal miners.

According to the Information Centre of the UOC, Deputy Head of the Department for External Relations of the UOC Archpriest Mykolai Danylevych reported that believers covered the way from St. Volodymyr's Hill to the Kyiv-Caves Monastery.

Patriarch Kirill attends reception by Moscow Mayor on occasion of millennium of St Vladimir’s demise

In the evening of July 26, 2015, after the Russian Field concert, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia attended the reception given by the Moscow mayor at the Catherine the Great Hall of the Grand Palace in Tsaritsyno.

Moscow Mayor S. Sobyanin welcomed the guest to the hall.

On 26 July 2015, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia attended the 4th Interregional Festival of Slavic Art “Russian Field,” organized at the Tsaritsyno Palace and Park Ensemble in Moscow.

This year the Festival is dedicated to the millennium of the demise of the Holy Prince Vladimir, Equal-to-the-Apostles.

In Tsaritsyno, the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church was met by the Mayor of Moscow, Mr. Sergei Sobyanin.
