Patriarch Kirill consecrates St Vladimir Chapel at Moscow Diocesan House

The millennium of the demise of the Holy Prince Vladimir Equal-to-the-Apostles is widely celebrated in Russia as a church-state occasion. The most important events of the jubilee year will take place in the capital from July 26 to 28, 2015.

On July 26, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia visited the Moscow Diocesan House in Likhov Pereulok. The restoration of the historic compound was carried out as part of the Presidential program of celebrations devoted to the millennium of the demise of the Holy Prince Vladimir.

The Convent of the German Diocese Marks its Feast Day and 10th anniversary

On July 17-18, 2015, the feast day of the Martyrs of Alapaevsk, the convent of Holy Grand Duchess Elizabeth in Munich, Germany, marked its 10th anniversary. St Elizabeth Skete, located in the picturesque village of Buchendorf, near the Bavarian capital, drew a multitude of clergymen and pilgrims. Both all-night vigil and Divine Liturgy were headed by His Eminence Archbishop Mark of Berlin and Germany, who is the spiritual father of the convent.

Pristina Confiscates Monastery Visoki Decani’s Land

Pristina aims to become a member of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) while its government is simultaneously depriving the Serbian Orthodox Church’s (SPC) monastery, the 14th century-old Visoki Decani, of its right to property, the Frankfurt-based Serbian language daily Frankfurtske Vesti said on Thursday.

The court order the daily had an insight into, states that over 23 ha of land in the allegedly law-protected special zone has been confiscated from the monastery Visoki Decani.

Patriarch Daniel of Romania celebrates his 64th birthday

Tuesday, 22 July 2015, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church celebrates his 64th birthday.

The Patriarch of Romania was born on 22 July 1951, in Dobrești village, Bara commune, Tomiș county, as the third child to the family of teacher Alexie and Stela Ciobotea. He attended the primary school in his native village (1958 – 1962), Dobrești, and the secondary school in Lăpușnic locality (1962 – 1966), county of Timiș. In 1966 he attended the high school courses in Buziaș city, which he continued in Lugoj city, at "Coriolan Brediceanu” High School (1967 – 1970).

Patriarch John X Visits Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology

  On Monday morning, July 20, 2015, His Beatitude Patriarch John X visited Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Brookline, MA. His visit to the beautiful campus included an extensive tour of the grounds, a service in the Holy Cross Chapel, and a luncheon. Patriarch John was hosted by His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, and accompanied by His Eminence Metropolitan Joseph and other distinguished hierarchs, clergy, and lay leaders.

Metropolitan Hilarion celebrates Divine Liturgy on the commemoration day of St Sergius of Radonezh

On 18 July 2015, the commemoration day of St Sergius of Radonezh, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, officiated at the Divine Liturgy in the Church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles at the Laura of the Holy Trinity and St Sergius with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.
