The Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine has decided to remove Honorary Patriarch Filaret as a member of the Holy Synod.

The Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine has made this decision following Filaret’s six consecutive absences from meetings of the Holy Synod and the unjustified refusal to participate in the sessions despite the written invitation he had received.

By the grace of God, on the twenty-third and twenty-fourth of January, at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in Phoenix, Arizona, Orthodox youth workers from various jurisdictions and the entire country were gathered at the 19th Annual Orthodox Youth and Camp Workers Conference. Participants of the conference were honored to partake in the six keynote sessions followed by table discussions. The conference consisted of four speakers and presenters: Fr. Josiah Trenham, Gabrielle Otte, Dr. Eugenia Constantinou, and Jonathan Ignatius Green.

Church of Greece: Voluntary abortion is a murder, we do not accept it

The Standing Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, chaired by Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece, met yesterday.

During the two-day sittings, the Holy Synod, taking into account the recent developments on abortion, “and based on the Bible and the Holy Tradition of the Orthodox Church of Christ, expresses its theological position on the fetus as a complete and integral human being since its conception and therefore, it considers voluntary abortion as a murder and does not accept it.”
