Boat-church sets off for annual Siberian missionary trip

Priests, doctors, and social workers have teamed up again for a unique mission trip along the Ob River in central Russia.

The missionaries plan to visit 45 remote settlements in this 23rd annual voyage of the Apostle Andrew the First- Called missionary ship, reports Vesti Novosibirsk. The clergy meet with Orthodox faithful in the lightly-populated areas who are in need of spiritual support and Church Sacraments. The initiative for organizing the missionary voyages belongs to the Church.

President Pavlopoulos in Panagia Sumela

The President of the Hellenic Republic, Prokopis Pavlopoulos, will visit tomorrow the Holy Monastery of “Panagia Sumela” to attend the festivities on the occasion of the Anniversary of the Dormition of Virgin Mary.  At 10:00, President Pavlopoulos will arrive at the Church of the Dormition of Theotokos on the site of the Holy Pilgrimage (Kastania Imathias).

Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk celebrates Divine Liturgy at the Church of Nativity of Christ in the city of Tagaytay

On 10th August 2019, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, while on a working visit to the Philippines, in concelebration with Metropolitan Sergy of Singapore and Southeast Asia, Patriarchal Exarch of Southeast Asia, and Metropolitan Pavel of Khanty-Mansiysk and Surgut, acting administrator of the diocese of the Philippines and Vietnam, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Nativity of Christ in the city of Tagaytay.

The editions of the Albanian Church in an international book fair

In the “International Book Fair” in the coastal city of Durres, which took place on August 8-11, 2019, the Albanian Orthodox Church participated with its rich publications.  The Parish of Apostle Paul and St. Asti of Durres successfully operated a kiosk, visited by thousands of people. The publishing activity of the Church of Albania has been great for nearly 28 years, since Archbishop Anastasios wanted God’s word to reach every home in Albania’s most remote villages.

The Ecumenical Patriarch departed for his birthplace

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, accompanied by Great Ecclesiarch Benjamin, Patriarchal Hierodeacon Aetios Nikiforos, Monk Ezekiel of the monastery of St. George Koudounas on Princes’ islands and Panagiotis Grafiadelis of the Patriarchate Secretaries departed at Tuesday noon, August 13, for his hometown in Imbros, to officiate at the Divine Liturgy and to attend to other religious and cultural events, for the celebration of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary.  The Ecumenical Patriarch will return to Constantinople on Friday, August 16.

A great annual tradition was again honored on the Greek island of Corfu on Sunday, in celebration of a miracle worked by the island’s patron saint more than 300 years ago.

The Divine Liturgy in honor of St. Spyridon was celebrated in the morning, followed by a procession throughout the old city of Kerkyra with his holy relics. The holy march was led by His Eminence Metropolitan Nektarios of Corfu, Paxos, and the Diapontian Islands, together with five other metropolitans from the Church of Greece, reports Romfea.
