Ascension of the Lord celebrated in Monastery Milesheva

The Monastery of Milesheva celebrated its church patron, the Ascension of the Lord, on 28 May 2020

His Grace Bishop Atanasije of Milesheva officiated the Divine Liturgy in Pribojska Banja with concelebration of the principal of Saint Nicholas monastery Archimandrite Teofil, spiritual father of Milesheva Archimandrite Leontije, principal of the Holy Ascension Church at Seljani hieromonk Petar, hieromonk Sava from the Diocese of Budimlje-Niksic, episcopal dean of Priboj protopresbyter-staurophor Dragan Vidakovic, parish of Priboj peotopresbyter-staurophor Ranko Milincic, episcopal dean of Prijepolje archpriest Igor Eric, presbyter Nikola Perkovic and deacon Ivan Savic.

The memory of the flooded church in Drinjaca has not been faded out

 On May 24, 2020, His Grace Fotije, Bishop of Zvornik and Tuzla, officiated the Holy Archhierarchal Liturgy on the occasion of the 115th anniversary of the consecration of the church of Saints Cyril and Methodius at Drinjača, which was flooded over during the construction of the hydroelectric power plant in 1955.

In the new church dedicated to the Holy Deacon Habakkuk, the Bishop was concelebrated by protopresbyter-staurophor Vidoje Lukić, Bishop’s dean in Zvornik, protopresbyter-staurophor Slavenko Tomić, parish priest in Zvornik, presbyter Mladen Pantić, parish priest in Medjaš-Trnjača, and protodeacon Slavoljub Milosevic.

The Patron Saint Day of the Theological Seminary and Chilandar Metochion in Nis

On 24th May 2020, on the sixth Sunday after Pascha - the Sunday of the Blind, the Holy Brothers, Equal-to-the-Apostles Cyril and Methodius were solemnly celebrated in the Church of the Resurrection of the Lord, the Chilandar metochion in Nis.

On that day, the Church patron saint day was celebrated (the Sunday of Myrrh-bearing women), whose solemn celebration was postponed for the day when the Theological Seminary in Nis celebrates its patron saint day as well. That is why the Paschal service was sung at the Liturgy.

The President with the Patriarch: Politics interferes with the internal organization of the Church in Montenegro

His Holiness Irinej, the Serbian Patriarch, said after a meeting with President Aleksandar Vucic that it was clear that Milo Djukanovic’s plan was that in Montenegro there was no longer the Serbian Orthodox Church or Serbian Orthodox people. President Vucic points out that politics interferes with the internal Church organization and essentially spiritual matters, and even wants to establish a new church in Montenegro.

President Aleksandar Vucic and Serbian Patriarch Irinej discussed the situation of the Serbian people and the Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro. Patriarch Irinej said that the situation in Montenegro was more difficult than it had ever been in history.

Solemn Welcome of Bishop Joanikije in Berane

In a magnificent gathering, in front of the Djurdjevi Stupovi monastery, people of the Vasojevic clan organized by themselves a welcoming party for His Grace Bishop Joanikije of Budimlye-Niksic on Sunday evening, 17 May 2020.

The faithful gathered in a great number, respect and love for their competent Bishop and Church, expressed their joy by shouting: We give up our lives, but sacred places not! Bishop, our pride, we will defend our sacred places! Long Live the Bishop! We want prayer processions!

Serbian Patriarch celebrated in the church of Saint George in Bezanija

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch officiated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the church of Saint George in Bezanija, in Belgrade, on 17 May 2020. The Patriarch was concelebrated by presbyters Vladimir Levicanin and Zelimir Prodanovic, as well as deacons Radomir Vrucinic and Darko Radovanovic.
