On the tenth day of August of the year of the Lord 2014, history of the God-guarded Diocese of the Timok was recorded in golden letters.

On that day, when our Holy Church offers prayers to the memory of Deacons Prohor, Nikanor, Timon and Parmen, decision of the Holy Bishops' Assembly was implemented, taken in May of the same year, by which Very Venerable archimandrite Ilarion (Golubovic) was elected Bishop of the Timok area  (Eastern Serbia), as former abbot of the Monastery of St. Nicholas at Bukovo.

Throughout the Diocese of Slavonia, memory prayer services for the killed by the Ustashas in 1942 were peformed. Prayer gatherings took place in Kusonje, Japaga, Branesci, Dereza and Tornj.

On August 13, 1942, the Orthodox Serbs of the Slavonian town of Kusonje were taken by the Ustashas and brought into the church of St. Great Martyr George, from where most of the martyrs were taken to two nearby wells to be bestially killed and thrown into them. Several Serbs were imprisoned in the church itself, which was then burned down.

College student retreat 2019 – Midwest Diocese

The day started off with registration and pitch-in luncheon. Following lunch there were three short but profound presentations on faith and science. At 5 PM we all went to Vespers at the St. Sava Monastery in Libertyville to be blessed by our first Bishop on this continent – St. Mardarije, whose incorrupt relics are at the monastery. Surrounded by one of the oldest cemeteries in United States, we realized it needed some TLC, so we went around collecting 30 bags of trash.
