For the first time in six years, the Eve of the Theophany of our Lord Jesus Christ (Holy Cross Day) fell on a Sunday. 

His Grace, Bishop Maxim, celebrated the Liturgy at Saint Steven’s Cathedral with the Cathedral clergy – Protopresbyter Stavrophor Nicholas Ceko, Dean, Protopresbyter Stavrophor Ilija Daikovich, Presbyter Norman Kosanovich – and the Diocesan Deacon, Zoran Aleksic.  

Bishop Mitrophan at the Blessing of the Susquehanna River

His Grace Bishop Mitrophan of Eastern America joined Fr. Christopher Rocknage of St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church in Steelton, Pennsylvania and the Orthodox Clergy of greater Harrisburg on the eve of Theopany, Sunday, January 18, 2015, for the Water Blessing at the Susquehanna River.

Besides Fr. Christopher, concelebrating with the bishop were Fr. Mark Lichtenstein (Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Camp Hill), Fr. Timothy Hojnicki (Holy Apostles Orthodox Church, Mechanicsburg), Fr. Daniel Ressetar (Christ the Savior Orthodox Church, Harrisburg), Fr. Stephen Vernak (Christ the Savior Orthodox Church, Harrisburg) and Deacon Seraphim Reynolds (Holy Apostles Orthodox Church, Mechanicsburg).

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, received Mrs. Narinder Chauhan, Ambassador of India in Belgrade at the Serbian Patriarchate today, on January 21st, 2015.

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, received the President of the Government of the Republic of Serbia Mr. Aleksandar Vucic at the Serbian Patriarchate yesterday, on January 20th, 2015.

Prime Minister Vucic informed the Patriarch on his last week’s visit to Kosovo and Metochia, emphasizing that the position of Serbia was not easy, but Serbia should act responsibly, wisely and unanimously „This is an approach we need to take in solving all of our country’s problems, the Prime minister said, adding that the dialogue with the Serbian Orthodox Church plays an important role in this approach.

On the feast of Theophany, His Eminence Amfilohije,Archbishop of Cetinje and Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral, celebrated the Divine Liturgy and a service of the Blessing of the Water at the Cathedral church of the Resurrection of Christ in Podgorica. 

After the Liturgy at the Cathedral church, the Metropolitan blessed the waters under the ancient Nemanjic town, at the confluence of Ribnica into Moraca and in the presence of many believers from Podgorica, at noon. Following this, there was a traditional throwing of the Holy Cross into the water and swimming for it, in which 123 competitors participated.

Archpastoral visit to the faithful in Eugene

On Saturday, January 10th, 2015, on the occasion of his archpastoral visit to the faithful in Oregon, His Grace Bishop Maxim traveled from Portland to Eugene to celebrate the Hierarchal Divine Liturgy at St. John the Wonderworker Serbian Orthodox Church. Traveling with him were Fr. Milan Unkovic and a number of the faithful of St. Stephen the Protomartyr and Archdeacon of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Portland. Also traveling with His Grace was the diocesan deacon, Deacon Zoran Aleksic. Together, they concelebrated with the clergy of St. John, Fr. Daniel Mackay and Deacon Stephen Dyer.
