Serbian Patriarch Irinej visits church of Saint George in Rasina

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, arrived in Chicago on Saturday, 7 September 2013. The same day the Patriarch visited the church of Saint George in Rasina accompanied by Bishop Longin of New Gracanica-Midwestern America, presbyter Vladimir Vranic and deacon Nikolaj Kostur.

Following the evening service Patriarch Irinej blessed crosses in front of the church. On this joyful occasion, the congregation prepared an agape feast. Presbyter Petar Sailovic and Bishop Longin delivered welcome speeches. His Holiness delivered a sermon emphasizing the significance of the unity of our Church and our people.

On the feast day of Holy martyr Agathonicus and Holy Martyr Gorazd of Czech Lands, in the church of Bishop Jovan of Ulpiana celebrated Hierarchal Divine Liturgy in the church of Holy Resurrection  in Belgrade;  thirteen priests and four deacons concelebrated, in the presence of Rt. Revd. Joanikije, Bishop of Budimlje-Niksic.

His Grace Bishop Atanasije of Bihac-Petrovac recieved Mrs. Stanislava Pak, Advisor to the President of Republic Serbia, at the Serbian Patriarchate on 5 September 2013. 

Bishop Atanasije informed Mrs. Pak about problems and circumstances  in which our people lives in the territory of the Diocese of Bihac-Petrovac, Bosnia and Hercegovina. Mrs. Pak promised that she would do her best to focus attention of the public to that Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

Representatives of the Journalists' Association of  Serbia (UNS) and teh Society of journalist of Kosovo and Metohia set up a new memorial plaque on the place near Velika Hoca where in 1998 journalist of Radio Pristina, Djuro Slavuj and Ranko Parenic disappeared. The memorial plaque which was placed on the same spot last year, uknown vandals have destroyed.  

Bishop Hrizostom serves in Priboj near Lopar

On Wednesday, 4 September 2013 on the feast day of Holy Martyr  Agathonicus of Nicomedia and all who suffered with him, His Grace Bishop Hrizostom of Zvornik-Tuzla served the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in a village of Priboj near Lopar on Majevica 

At the same time, it was a first visit of His Grace Bishop Hrizostom in this part of beautiful Majevica. This year 130 years has concluded since the consecration of the church in Priboj. His Grace congratulated this remarkable jubilee to parishioners of the parish of Priboj.

Hate graffiti were found in the Orthodox church in Dubrovnik, among which were offensive scrawling such as “Hang the Serbs”  could be seen. Regarding this unfortunate event mayor of Dubrovnik Mr. Andro Vlahusic visited parish priest of Dubrovnik protopresbyter Vladan Perisic and expressed strongest condemnation of this outrageous act.
