A brief history of Portland Parish
15. August 2013 - 13:28Orthodox Christian organized church life in Portland, Oregon began in the 1890s with the arrival of Archimandrite Sebastian Dabovic, Serbian Orthodox Apostle to America. A missionary priest for California and the Pacific Northwest, Archimandrite Sebastian visited local Christian Orthodox families in Portland where he founded the first Orthodox Christian chapel dedicating it in the name of the “Holy and Life-giving Trinity”. The chapel was consecrated on February 26, 1895 and liturgical services were conducted from 1895 to 1926. After the church was founded, Father Sebastian would travel to Portland to perform the Holy Liturgy for two consecutive years. At that time, the small congregation consisted of six Syrians, four Serbs, and two Russians.
Farewell reception for Bishop Atanasije at the City Assembly of Belgrade
12. August 2013 - 10:18President of the City Assembly of Belgrade Mr. Aleksandar Antic received His Grace elected Bishop Atanasije of Bihac-Petrovac in a farewell visit at the Old Court on 9 August 2013.
Bishop Atanasije has been Bishop of Hvosno, vicar Bishop to the Serbian Patriarch at the Archbishopric of Belgrade for 14 years. The Holy Assembly of Bishops elected His Grace Atanasije Bishop of Bihac-Petrovac on 1 June 2013.
General Breedlove visits Monasteries of Pec Patriarchate and Decani
9. August 2013 - 12:19Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) General Phil Breedlove, accompanied by KFOR Commander General Volker Halblauer and representatives of Italian and American KFOR, visited the Pec Patriarchate and the Decani Monastery on 7 August 2013.
At the monastery of the Pec Patriarchate General Breedlove was welcomed by Bishop Teodosije of Raska-Prizren, with the blessing of His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch. Bishop Teodosije as a diocesan bishop and the member of the Holy Synod of Bishops, informed the American general with problems that our Church faces and emphasized a need that the KFOR forces remain in the region as long as possible and to provide security for the Serbian shrines and the people in the enclaves.

9. August 2013 - 11:14His Grace elected Bishop Atanasije of Bihac-Petrovac received His Eminence Archbishop of Belgrade Stanislav Hocevar and His Grace Bishop of Varazdin Josip Mrzjak with entourage at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade on 7 August 2013.

August 2013 - 10:30The Diocese of Bihac-Petrovac inform all Orthodox believers that His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch along with bishops will serve the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy and will enthrone elected Bishop Atanasije of Bihac-Petrovachat on 11 August 2013 at the Cathedral church in Bosanski Petrovac .
Serbian Patriarch Irinej is arriving in Bosanski Petrovac at 8.45 a.m. and the Divine Liturgy will begin at 9.30 a.m. We call all Orthodox believers and all people of good hope to attend this historical event for the Diocese of Bihac-Petrovac, so that we can together welcome Patriarch and newly elected Bishop.
