St. Sava's Day Academy in Podgorica

The central St. Sava's Day Academy in the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral  was held last night in the crypt of the Cathedral church of the Resurrection of Christ in Podgorica. At the beginning there was a welcoming speech of His Eminence Archbishop of Cetinje and Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral Amfilohije, and the gathered were also greeted by advisors to the President of Montenegro and Serbia, Sonja Tomovic Sundić and Mladjen Djordjevic.

Welcoming the guests in the crowded crypt of the Podgorica Cathedral church, Metropolitan Amfilohije wished that also this year, as all the previous eight centuries Saint Sava lead us the way which goes to into the life eternal.

Metropolitan Amfilohije, speaking about the Pec throne of the Archbishops and the Patriarchs of Serbia, recalled that Patriarch Pavle of blessed repose was thirty-four years in Kosovo and Metohia, as the newly elected Patriarch Irenej, the former head of the monastic school in the Ostrog monastery, the latter rector of the Prizren Seminary, has been honored to be the forty-fifth Archbishop of Pec Metropolitan of Belgrade and Karlovac and Patriarch of Serbia.

A writer Milutin Micovic gave a this year's St. Sava's Day speech.

In the formal program of the Academy also participated  ethno dance troup "Pirg" from Belgrade, Teodora and Anastasija Rafailovic from Valjevo, the Serbian singing society "Jedinstvo" from Kotor, choir "St. Newmartyr Stanko" from Niksic, choir "St. Mark the Apostle and the Evangelist" from Podgorica, Serbian singing society "Svetosavnik" from Podgorica, choir of the Seminary of St. Peter of Cetinje from Cetinje, KUD "Djurdjevdansko kolo" and actors of the Herceg Novi theater.
