In Nis today, on 21 September, the holy mass commemorating 17 centuries of the Edict of Milan, was served by Papal envoy Angelo Scola

At the celebration there were President of the Republic Tomislav Nikolic, Prince Alexandar Karadjordjevic, Princess Katherine, representatives of the Diocese of Nis of the SOC, representatives of the Serbian Armed Forces, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of other Churches and religious communities, mayor of Nis Zoran Perisic and representatives of the political and cultural life of this part of Serbia.

Serbian Patriarch meets Angelo Cardinal Scola

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, met today with His Eminence Angelo Cardinal Scola, Archbishop of Milano and envoy of His Holiness Pope Francisco, accompanied by His Eminence Archbishop of Belgrade Stanislav Hocevar and the official delegation for celebration of the 1700th anniversary of the Edict of Milan in Nis.

The greatest gathering in the history of the Serbian Orthodox Church

From October 4-9, 2013 the greatest and the most representative gathering in the history of our local Church will take place in Belgrade, Nis and Podgorica.

Primates and representatives of local Orthodox Churches, led by His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, His Holiness Theophilos of Jerusalem, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, His Beatitude Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus and His Beatitude Archbishop Sava of Warsaw responded to the invitation of His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch to participate in both the Central and closing ceremony commemorating the 1700th anniversary of the Edict of Milan. Besides delegations from the Orthodox Churches, the Central celebration of the 1700th anniversary of the Edict of Milan will also be attended by representatives of the East Non-Chalcedonian Churches, an esteemed delegation from the Vatican with representatives from the Roman Catholic Church from the region, leaders from the Reformed Church, as well as different Christian organizations and associations from throughout Europe and the world.

Preparations of the celebration of the jubilee of the Edict of Milan

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch met with Mr. Tomislav Nikolic, President of the Republic of Serbia at the Serbian Patriarchate today, on 3 September 2013. 

The meeting, which topic was the solemn celebration of the jubilee of the Edict of Milan, was attended by their Graces Bishops Irinej of Backa and Teodosije of Raska-Prizren, Director of the Office for Cooperation with Traditional Churches and religious communities Mr. Mileta Radojevic, and Mr. Darko Bulatovic on behalf of the mayor of City of Nis. 

York: In honor of Emperor Constantine

On Pentecost Tuesday, 25 July 2013, His Grace Bishop Dositej of Britain and Scandinavia, accompanied by protopresbyter-stavrophor Aleksandar Ilic, head of the church of Saint John the Baptist in Halifax, visited the Cathedral of Saint Peter the Apostle in York, Northern England. On the south side of the cathedral there is a magnificent statue of Emperor Constantine the Great with a sign that this Roman emperor in York was declared a ruler in 306.

Jubilee Celebration of the Western American Diocese: Freedom to Pursue the Faith

On August 30 through September 1, 2013, the Western American Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church in North and South America will hold its annual Diocesan Days gathering. This year Diocesan Days will mark several momentous anniversaries: 50 years of the founding of the Diocese, 150 years of the birth of Archimandrite Sebastian Dabovich, Holy Apostle to the Americas, and 1700 years of the Edict of Milan.
