Lenten Holidays

During the time of gastronomically austere yet spiritually joyous Great Lent, there is room for holidays as well—sitting quietly, joyfully, and warmly around the table with close friends and family. Different family members may be fasting to varying degrees—healthy adults, children, the elderly, the ailing—but the holiday table should be set with Lenten foods for all. In this case, it is time for tea, with all the attending sweets.

Patriarch Irinej consecrates people's Church kitchen

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch consecrated on February 3, 2012 the Church people's kitchen at the premises of the Religious charity guardianship of the Archsbishopric of Belgrade-Karlovac (31 Francuska str.).

Оn this occasion presbyter Vladimir Markovic, secretary of the RCG addressed with a sermon to Serbian Patriarch, representatives of the City authorities, representatives of the City Secretariate for social protection, embassy of the Russian Federation, representatives of the companies and individuals who helped the work of the kitchen.

Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation in Sydney

The famous Serbian basketball player, great humanist and President of the Serbian Olympic Committee Mr. Vlade Divac, has met with Mr. Kevin Rudd, Australian Minister of Foreign Affairs. The meeting was held in friendly atmosphere, without strict protocols. Mr. Divac informed the host on Foundation activities and humanitarian initiatives with special emphasize on housing solution for refugees and IDPs.

On Sunday, January 22, 2012, his travel throughout the Fifth continent was began by the famous Serbian basketball player and a great humanist Vlade Divac. Vlade Divac came to Australia upon the invitation of the Metropolitanate of Australia-New Zealand, and as the founder and patron of the Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation which collects financial funds for aid and, above all, solving housing problems of refugees and displaced persons in Serbia.

IOCC Sends New Wave of Relief to Serbia's Earthquake Survivors

One year after an earthquake in the Serbian village of Vitanovac crumbled the walls of her home and destroyed her only source of heat, this woman eagerly assembles the new wood stove now sitting in her kitchen. Through a generous gift from the Serbian Orthodox Metropolitanate of Australia and New Zealand, IOCC provided wood burning stoves and firewood for 150 families struggling to rebuild their earthquake damaged homes. Baltimore, MD (IOCC) — The past year has been a struggle for the villagers living in and around Vitanovac, Serbia, the epicenter of a jarring 5.4 earthquake last November that left two people dead and tens of thousands of people homeless. With winter coming and the need for assistance still critical, International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) through ongoing support from the Serbian Orthodox Metropolitanate of Australia and New Zealand, is delivering much needed relief to families still laboring to rebuild their homes and replace belongings destroyed in the earthquake.

Merciful section of the RCG at Home for children without parental care "Mose Pijade"

On the beginning of the third week of the Christmas lent, on Sunday, December 11, 2011 the members of the Merciful section of the Religious Charity guardianship of the Archbishopric of Belgrade-Karlovac visited the Home "Mosa Pijade" at the Center for Protection of Infants, Children and Youth of Belgrade.

In this house a large number of children are accommodated who attend primary or secondary school and those who want to go to faculty can stay at the House until they are 26 years old.
