Besides firemen and locals, also monks of the Tvrdos monastery and employees of the "Tvrdos Monastery Cellars" participated in fire fighting in an area of the village of Duzi.  This is not the first time that the brotherhood of the monastery of Tvrdos helps in fire fighting in Herzegovina.

Monastic life in the Judean Wilderness

From the fourth through the seventh centuries A.D., a form of Christian religious devotion flourished in Palestine known as desert monasticism.

Drawing upon biblical descriptions of Elijah (1 Kings 17), John the Baptist (Matthew 3), and Jesus, thousands of devoted Christians departed into the wilderness, becoming hermits seeking the presence of God in solitude (Mark 1).

Paradoxically, this exodus into the wilderness began in the fourth century as Christianity was becoming the official religion of the Roman empire.

Serbian Unity Congress and the Ministry for Religion and Diaspora organized a Round table discussion with the topic "The role of the Serbian Orthodox Church in the preservation of identity of Diaspora" on Monday, 21st of May.

Bishop Irinej visits refugees and displaced families in Belgrade

During his stay in Serbia, His Grace Bishop Irinej visited a newly constructed building for the social housing  in a supportive environment in Veliki Mokri Lug in Belgrade's municipality of Zvezdara. Eleven refugees and nine internally displaced families who have lived until recently in collective centres in Belgrade, on April 20, 2012 moved into flats in Veliki Mokri Lug.
