Noah’s Ark replica to be built in Armenia

A “Noah’s Ark” historical-cultural and scientific-educational complex will be built in Armenia according to the proportions described in the Bible, using reinforced concrete, reports RIA-Novosti, with reference to the “We Build for All the People” Foundation, created especially for the project. According to Biblical tradition, Noah’s Ark, built by command of God that Noah and his family might survive the global Flood, came to rest upon the mountains of Ararat after the forty-day torrent. The replica ark is to be erected on a mountaintop across from Mt. Ararat. The ark is to be built of reinforced concrete, lined with wood. The foundation’s message notes that the ark will have a length of 300 cubits (433 ft.), height of 30 cubits (43 ft.), and width of 50 cubits (72 ft.).

Number of Orthodox increase, Catholics decrease in Central, Eastern Europe

The majority of residents of Central and Eastern Europe are Orthodox Christians, their numbers increasing while those of Catholics have been decreasing, according to new findings of the Pew Research Center. Overall, about 57% consider themselves Orthodox, including residents of ten countries with an Orthodox majority, including Russia, Ukraine, Greece, Belarus, Bulgaria, Serbia, Georgia, and Moldova. The survey was conducted in 18 countries between June 2015 and July 2016, involving more than 25,000 people.

Feast of St. Georges – St. Georges Shrine – Old Damascus

His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II celebrated the Holy Qurobo on the occasion of the Feast of St. Georges at St. Georges Shrine in the old city of Damascus. His Holiness was assisted by His Eminence Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Patriarchal Vicar of the Patriarchal Archdiocese of Damascus. In his sermon, His Holiness spoke about martyrdom and its connection to the propagation of faith in the early days of Christianity. He mentioned the main elements of the biography of St. Georges the Martyr and how he sacrificed his life for the sake of keeping the faith and proclaiming the Lord Jesus Christ as his God and savior.

The Archbishop Justin visits the Church of the Resurrection

On Wednesday morning, 20th April/3rd May 2017, the Most Reverend Archbishop of Canterbury of the Anglican Church Mr. Justin Welby visited the Horrendous Golgotha and the Holy Sepulchre at the Church of the Resurrection, escorted by a team of his associates and entourage, among whom was the Archbishop of the Anglican Church in Jerusalem Most Rev. Suheil Dawani.

The Most Reverend Archbishop of Canterbury was received at the Horrendous Golgotha by His Beatitude our Father and Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos,  who was escorted by the Most Reverend Archbishop Aristarchos of Constantina, Dragouman Archimandrite Mattheos, the Master of Ceremonies Archimandrite Bartholomew, the Assistant Sacristan Archimandrite Polykarpos and other Hagiotaphite and Templar Fathers. Ecumenical Patriarch: “Terrorism is a stranger to any religion”

On Wednesday, April 26, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew left Geneva, where he had addressed the World Council of Churches the day before, for Cairo, where he attended and addressed an interreligious conference at Al-Azhar University on Thursday. His address, “Religions and Peace,” focused on the importance of religions and interreligious dialogue in today’s world, and his view of the equally peaceful nature of all religions.
