Patriarch received members of the Executive Committee of CEC

His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej received members of the Executive Committee of the Conference of European Churches, at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade on 1 June 2017.

The high representatives of the Conference of European Churches expressed their gratitude to the Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church for the cordial reception during which they discussed various issues that are to be deliberated upon at the meeting of this international body, which is being held in Belgrade from 31 May to 3 June 2017. The Patriarch Irinej thanked the distinguished guests for the visit and wished them all the best from the Lord in their highly responsible work. The reception was attended by His Eminence Metropolitan Dr. Porfirije of Zagreb and Ljubljana as a member of the Holy Synod of Bishops, and the General secretary of the Office of the  Serbian Patriarch, Deacon Dr. Aleksandar Prascevic.

Russian Cossacks will help Syrians preserve ancient Christian heritage

The Stavropol Cossacks are planning to travel to the ancient Christian city of Maaloula in Syria in order to explore and examine the historical texts in the Aramiac language, in an effort to help the Syrians preserve their venerable Christian heritage, reports Interfax-Religion.

“After the destruction perpetrated by the terrorists in the city, we believe it is necessary to go there and begin working on the written monuments in the Aramaic language, the language of Christ, which the militants failed to destroy,” said the deputy of the ataman of the Stavropol Cossack Society Dimitry Tarasov. “Additionally, we want to record conversations with local residents who speak a modern dialect of Aramaic,” he continued.

Militants Attack Coptic Christians in El-Minya : Several Dead and Dozens Injured

Militants attacked a bus carrying Coptic Orthodox Christian on their way to St. Samuel Monastery in the east of El-Minya governorate in Egypt on Friday 26th May 2017. At least 26 people were killed and many others are injured. A mini bus and two cars were attached. There are children among who are dead. Minya incident is the latest attack on Christians in Egypt. Coptic Christian are often targets of deadly attacks by several extremist groups in Egypt.

The visit of President of The U.SA. at the Church of the Resurrection

On Monday morning, 9th/22nd  May 2017, the President of the U.S.A. Mr. Donald Trump arrived at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel-Aviv. Present at the official welcome was His Beatitude our Father and Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos, as a representative of our Venerable Patriarchate. In the afternoon of the same day, the President of the U.S.A. visited the Church of the Resurrection, coming from David’s Gate with his wife and associates.

President Putin of Russia Receives Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria

His Excellency Vladimir Puitn – President of the Russian Federation received His Holiness Tawadros II – Pope and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark the Evangelist and Primate of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria at Moscow Kremlin on 24th May 2017. His Holiness Kirill – Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia was present for the auspicious occasion. They spoke on the relations between Russian Orthodox and Coptic Orthodox Churches, Egypt and Russian and on the conditions of Christians in the Middle East.

Coptic Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria Receives Orthodox Unity Award from Patriarch Kirill of Moscow & All Russia

His Holiness Tawadros II – Pope and Patriarch of the See of St Mark the Evangelist and Primate of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria received the prestigious Award of the Unity of Orthodox People’ from His Holiness Kirill – Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia.

The ceremony was held on 23rd of May 2017 at Christ the Saviour Cathedral in Moscow. His Excellency Gjorge Ivanov – the President of the Republic of Macedonia and His Excellency Sergey Sobyanin – Mayor of Moscow were other recipients of the award.
