Christmas in the Orthodox Archbishopric of Ochrid

His Beatitude Jovan, Archbishop of Ochrid and Metropolitan of Skopje, served the Holy Liturgy in the stauropegic monastery of Saint John Chrysostom in Nizepolje near Bitola on 7 January 2022, on the feast day of the Nativity of Christ. 

His Grace Bishop Jaokim of Polog-Kumanovo celebrated in Ochrid, His Grace Bishop Marko of Bregalnica in Stip, while His Grace Bishop David of Stobi celebrated in Skopje. Christmas Liturgies were celebrated also in other places throghout the Orthodox Archbishopric of Ochrid. 

Patron Saint-day of Republika Srpska

His Holiness Porfirije, the Serbian Patriarch, officiated the Holy Hierarchical Liturgy in the Cathedral church of Christ the Saviour in Banja Luka on 9 January 2022, on the feast day of Holy First Martyr and Archdeacon Stephen (phоto gallery).

The Patriarch was concelebrated by His Eminence Metropolitan Joanikije of Montenegro and the Littoral and His Grace Bishop Jefrem of Banja Luka in the prayerful presence of Their Graces Bishops Pahomije of Vranje, Fotije of Zvornik-Tuzla, Jovan of Slavonia, Sergije of Bihac-Petrovac, and many believers among which were President of Republika Srpska Zeljka Cvijanovic, Prime Minister of Republika Srpska Radovan Viskovic, the Serbian member of the BiH Presidency Milorad Dodik, Mayor of Banja Luka Drasko Stanivukovic.

Christ is Born! Cristo ha nacido!

In the Serbian Orthodox Cathedral church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God in Buenos Aires in Argentina, the Nativity of the Lord, God, and Saviour Jesus Christ- Christmas was celebrated solemnly.

His Grace Bishop Kirilo of Buenos Aires and South America invited His Eminence Metropolitan Jacob of Buenos Aires and Argentina of the Patriarchate of Antioch to the celebration. The hierarchs served the Liturgy with the concelebration of presbyter Stefan Jovanovic and hieromonk David (Janketic). Before the Liturgy, the morning service was served with the traditional burning of the Yule log, so that a large number of present believers could participate in that Serbian traditional holiday act, and then partake in the communion at the Liturgy.  On that occasion, the Christmas message of His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch was read. Porphyria. Christ is born! Cristo ha nacido!

His Holiness Porfirije, the Serbian Patriarch officiated the Holy Liturgy in the Cathedral church of Saint Sava in the Vracar district, in Belgrade, on 7 January 2022., on the feast day of the Nativity of the Lord and Our Saviour Jesus Christ. 

In the prayerful presence of His Grace Bishop Stefan of Remesiana, Vicar of the Serbian Patriarch; the Serbian Patriarch was concelebrated by Archimandrite Nektarije, protopresbyter-staurophor Velibor Dzomic, protosynchelloi Nektarije and Danilo, protopresbyters Zoran Rankovic and Ivan Strbacki, as well as deacons Radomir Vrucinic, Dragan Radic, Vladan Tatatalovic and Srboljub Ostojic.

Patriarch Porfirije: May Christmas give us all peace, the absence of fear and the courage to embrace each other

The traditional Christmas reception organized by the Serbian National Council on Christmas Day, January 6, this year was held in the atrium of the Kantakuzina Katarina Brankovic Serbian Orthodox Secondary School at the Holy Spirit in Zagreb.

At the reception, speakers were: Andrej Plenkovic, Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia;  Goran Jandroković, President of the Croatian Parliament; Tomislav Tomasevic, Mayor of Zagreb; Veran Matic, Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Serbia; as well as Milorad Pupovac, president of the Serbian National Council and the host of the Christmas reception. His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije addressed the present: - We are between two Christmases, the one that is celebrated according to the Gregorian calendar, and the Christmas one that is celebrated according to the Julian calendar. We are framed in this area, but also on the wider European continent, with the meaning of the message and the content of Christmas, and that is the Nativity of Christ .
