The parish of the Holy Prophet Elijah in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania gathered with great activity to observe the Twenty-Ninth Sunday after Pentecost on December 16, 2018. 

The day was permeated by the joyous anticipation that characterizes the season of the Nativity Fast, as the Orthodox faithful of this parish (like those elsewhere) prepare to welcome the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

15 and 16 December 2018, the St. Nicholas parish in Johnstown, PA celebrated their parish Slava (patron saint’s day). 

 The festivities started with the celebration of Great Vespers on the evening of the 15thby the V. Rev. Protosindjel Sava (Medakovic) assisted by the Altar Severer Vasilije Dragovic.  The responses were sung by Bogdan Diener in Byzantine Chant. He was assisted by V. Rev. Milan Dragovic, Danica Wess, Petra Neil, and others.  After Vespers, a large number of the parishioners made their confession in preparation to receive Holy Communion the next day.  These events were followed by a fellowship hour with coffee and Lenten cakes served by Kolo Sisters.

In reply to a letter of His Holiness Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, in which he informed of the “reinstatement” of the Ukrainian schismatics in their “rank,” of the “annulment” of the document which is three hundred years old and indicates the transfer of the Kievan Metropolia to the jurisdiction of the Moscow Patriarchate, of the organization in Kiev of a “local council” of the non-canonical groups admitted to communion, and of the intention to grant “autocephaly” in the next few days to the institution established at this gathering, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia expressed his deep pain, astonishment and indignation over the anti-canonical actions of the Patriarchate of Constantinople:

On Sunday, December 30th, 2018, the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy was served by His Grace Bishop Dimitrije of Zahumlje-Herzegovina and the Littoral in the church of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Mother of God in Dubrovnik.

It was the first pastoral visit of Bishop Dimitrije to the diocese of Dubrovnik after his enthronement to the throne of bishops of Zahumlje-Herzegovina.

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, celebrated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the church dedicated to Belgrade's martyrs Paisus and Avacum in Altina on 30 December 2018, the feast day of Holy Martyrs Paisus and Avacum.

The Patriarch was concelebrated by archpriests Zoran Perkovic, Jevgenji Lehac, Nebojsa Topolic, Slaven Vukomanovic and Georgije Kovac from the Diocese of Mohacev (Ukrain), protonamesnik Rade Jovic and Dragisa Tepavac and others.

„28. June“ and „Philanthropy“ are helping Serbs living in Kosovo and Metohija

The humanitarian organization “28. June” (28. jun) on Friday, 28th of December 2018, managed to deliver humanitarian assistance to the population living in Serbian enclaves at Kosovo and Metohija, as the first organization able to do so, after an introduction of the blockade in December.

A truck with basic help carried 20 pallets of flour, oil, and cans with food and arrived at the addresses of Serbian community kitchens and kindergartens in the south Serbian province, with the help of a charitable fond „Philanthropy“ and Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral.
