Director of Philanthropy in Brot fur die Welt celebration

Upon receiving the invitation of the Brot fur die Welt, with its headquarters in Berlin, director of Philanthropy, Тhe Charitable Foundation of the Serbian Church, Mr. Dragan M. Makojevic, MDiv MTh, had the honor to take a part in the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the creation of it.
While being in Berlin, there was enough time and opportunities to congratulate colleagues and friends, on such important jubilee as well and to talk about current and future cooperation between two institutions. Director of Philanthropy also had a privilege to meet and talk with His Excellency Mr. Joachim Gauck, the former President of Germany, who used the opportunity and extended His most cordial greetings to the Holy Church and the Serbian people.
The life of St. Mardarije of Libertyville
12. December 2018 - 14:00Born in village of Kornet, Ljesani County, in Montenegro, on November 2, 1889, to pious parents Petar and Jela Uskokovic, he was baptized in his village church dedicated to St. George and received his baptismal name Ivan.
His mother was from the well-known Bozovic family. Both of his parents were well respected in their community holding the office of leadership and particularly his father was a captain of their clan.

A Blessed Sunday at Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral
10. December 2018 - 13:00Sunday, December 2, 2018 marked the beginning of the Nativity Fast-Advent season.
Our Cathedral was blessed with the presence of His Grace Irinej, Bishop of the Eastern American Diocese, who joyously celebrated the Divine Liturgy, and concelebrated by Cathedral Dean Fr. Darko Spasojevic, Fr. Dobrivoje Milunovic and Deacon Theodore Sokolovic, with the participation of our former Cathedral dean, Fr. Uros Ocokoljich and Father Nikolaj Kostur. The choral responses by the S.S.S. Branko Radichevich were beautiful, leading our faithful to “lay aside all earthly cares”.
Symposium marking the 800th anniversary of autocephaly of the Serbian Church
10. December 2018 - 12:24The scientific symposium will be held at the Orthodox Theological Faculty in Belgrade December 10-14th 2018.
In honor of the anniversary of the autocephaly of the Serbian Orthodox Church (1219-2019), under the full patronage of the Holy Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church, the Orthodox Theological Faculty of the University of Belgrade organizes from December 10 to December 14, 2018 an international scientific symposium dedicated to the event of the Church independence and the eighth-century long contribution of the Serbian Orthodox Church to history, theology and culture of the Serbian people. More than a hundred prominent foreign and domestic research workers are going to participate in this international scientific event, whereby announcing the unallocated wish of collective scientific awareness of the current meaning of Orthodox Christianity in the Serbian context and beyond.
Salt Lake City Parish celebrated Slava
7. December 2018 - 15:17On Sunday, November 25, 2018 the parishioners of the St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church in Salt Lake City celebrated their Church Slava.
His Grace Bishop Maxim arrived on the eve of the feast and was given a warm welcome. Following the evening vesper service, the faithful had an opportunity to visit and talk with His Grace Bishop Maxim.
