Primates and representatives of Orthodox Churches in Kremlin

President of the Russian Federation for the first time in history will meet with primates and representatives of the local Orthodox Churches. As reported, president Vladimir Putin will receive high guests in the Great Palace of Kremlin.

President Putin will welcome Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria and All Africa, Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem, Serbian Patriarch Irinej, Patriarch Illiya of Georgia, Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus, Archbishop Sava of Poland, as well as representatives of other local Orthodox Churches. This meeting will affirm the contribution of Russia and the Russian Orthodox Church to a development of modern civilization and the foundation of spiritual and moral principles. Participants of this meeting will discuss about issues regarding ecumenical Orthodoxy, but also about issues in connection with Orthodox communities throughout the world.

Patriarch Irinej serves at the Representation of the Serbian Orthodox Church

On Tuesday, 23 July 2013, on the feast of the Placing of the Precious Robe of Our Lord Jesus Christ in Moscow and to a prayerful remembrance of venerable Anthony of Pechersk, His Holiness Irinej served the Divine Liturgy at the Representation of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Moscow.

Concelebrating along with the members of the Serbian church delegation there was also dean of the Novospasky stavropegic monastery in Moscow Bishop Sava of Voskresensk. Ambassador of Serbia Slavenko Terzic and president of the International Fund of Unity of Orthodox Peoples V.A. Alekseyev prayerfully participated in the Liturgy. The diplomatic choir of the Embassy of Serbia in the Russian Federation sang responses.

President of the State Duma of the Russian Federation S.E. Narishkin meets with Patriarch Irinej

President of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation S.E. Narishkin met with His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej in Moscow yesterday, on 23 July 2013.

During the talks there were also present: dean of the Representation of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Moscow Bishop Antonije of Moravica, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Russian Federation Mr. Slavenko Terzic, deputy director of the Department of the External Church Relations protopresbyter Nikolai Balashov, dean of the Representation of the Moscow Patriarchate in Belgrade protopresbyter Vitaliy Tarasyev, chairmain of the Committee on the issues of the social associations and religious organizations of the State Duma of the Russian Federation J.E. Nilov and other high personalities.

Serbian Patriarch concludes the visit to Saint Petersburg

The last day of the stay in the north capital of Russia, on 22 July 2013, the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church and his delegation visited the Naval Cathedral of Saint Nicholas and the Epiphany in Saint Petersburg.

At the entrance His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, was welcomed by the dean of the church protopresbyter Bogdan Soyko with the brotherhood. His Holiness venerated the wonderworking icon of Saint Nicholas and shrines at the altar. Then the delegation went to the upper church dedicated to the Epiphany.

Serbian church delegation visits Naval Cathedral of Saint Nicholas in Kronstadt

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch with his high delegation, during the visit to the Metropolitanate of St. Petersburg, visited on 22 July 2013 the Naval Cathedral of Holy Wonderworker Nicholas of Kronstadt.

The head of the Serbian Orthodox Church toured the Cathedral, as well as lower church of Saint John of Ryla. President of the Commission for monitoring within the Head board of the International charity fund “ Kronstadt Naval Cathedral” A.G. Zahvatov informed His Holiness about restoration works which have been performed since 2009.

This year we commemorate a significant event – the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus. In the distant tenth century Rus, through the labours of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir, adopted the Christian faith and culture, making a choice of religion and civilization which defined the vector of the historical development of our peoples.
