Communiqué regarding rumors on practice of Dushan Davidovic – former Bishop Damaskin

Being concerned for orthodox Serbian people on the fifth continent, which is entrusted to us, and having a responsibility towards the God Himself and the Holy Church of Christ we are forced to issue a communiqué which is essential for all the orthodox Serbian people, whose spiritual and national being certain forces are trying to destroy.  Namely, certain information has come to us that the former Bishop Damaskin or Dushan Davidovic should arrive in Australia with a goal to be installed as the head of the non-canonical Greek old calendar diocese and three Serbian church-school communities which administrations had, illegally and by conducting a total autocracy, separated from the Serbian Orthodox Church.

Eastern American Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church celebrates chapel Slava

His Grace Bishop Mitrophan of Eastern America officiated at the Holy Hierarchical Divine Liturgy on Saturday, September 5, 2009 for the celebration of the Diocesan Chapel Slava of St. Nikodim of Serbia. Concelebrating with the bishop were: the Episcopal Deputy, V. Rev. Stavrophor Dragoljub Malich, V. Rev. Stavrophor Stevan Stepanov, V. Rev. Stevan Rocknage, V. Rev. Djokan Majstorovic and Deacon Dragoslav Kosic.

Session of the Central Committee of the World Council of Churches

The continual representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church His Grace Bishop Irinej of Australia and New Zealand and protopresbyter-staurophor Professor Dr. Vladan Perishic, vice dean of the Faculty of the Orthodox Theology of the Belgrade University, upon the invitation of the Secretary General of the World Council of Churches, Rev. Samuel Kobia, participated in the session of the central committee of this organization which was held from August 26 until September 2, 2009 in Genève.

As we come again to the changing of the Church year, we reflect once more on the state of God's creation. We think about the past and repent for all that we have done or failed to do for the earth's care; we look to the future and pray for wisdom to guide us in all that we think or do.

These last twelve months have been a time of great uncertainty for the whole world. The financial systems that so many people trusted to bring them the good things of life, have brought instead fear, uncertainty and poverty. Our globalised economy has meant that everyone - even the poorest who are far removed from the dealings of big business - has been affected.
