Patriarch Bartholomew met President Obama

President of USA B. Obama held a separate meeting with Greek Orthodox Patriarch Bartholomew, whose international role as the spiritual leader of hundreds of millions of Orthodox Christians worldwide is not recognized by Ankara.

Bartholomew, following the meeting, sounded optimist regarding the problems the patriarchate faces, particularly in reopening Halki Seminary.

A scientific meeting on father Justin Popovic held in Vranje

In a grand hall of the City Hall of Vranje a scientific meeting "Father Justin Popovic - life and works" was held on April 4, 2009 , organized by the Orthodox diocese of Vranje,  city of Vranje, the literary community "Borisav Stankovic" and a society "Father Justin Popovic"from Vranje. In a full hall of the City Hall of Vranje prominent bishops of our Church spoke about father Justin Popovic :  retired Bishop Atanasije of Zahumlje and Hercegovina and Vicar Bishop Porfirije of Jegar, and guests of Bishop Pahomije of Vranje were Bishop Ignjatije of Branichevo and Bishop Jovan of Shumadija.

Archbishop Marko of Berlin and Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno visit Patriarch Pavle at the MMA

Archbishop Marko of Berlin and All Germany, accompanied by His Grace Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno, the vicar of Patriarch, visited today His Holiness Patriarch Pavle of Serbia at the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade.

In a cordial and warm conversation, Archbishop Marko thanked Patriarch Pavle for care and prayers to God Almighty for the unification of the Russian Orthodox Church.

Our unityis in our one Lord and savior Jesus Christ, and our one Orthodox faithand our one commitment to living the truth, to living as Christians.Not to live according the spirit of the world, not to live accordingto our passions, not to live according to the desires that flit bythrough our minds and lead us into all sorts of trouble, but to livethe truth, to live Orthodox. And, our diversity is something wecelebrate, not a diversity of lifestyles, but a diversity thatreflects the whole spectrum of our community, people of all races,people of all colors, people from a multitude of different ethnicbackgrounds.

Spiritual Celebration of Great Lent in the Monastery of the Protection of the Mother of God, Tallong

During the period of Great Lent in which we currently find ourselves, we attempt to fast at least a little bit more strictly than during the other three Great Fasts. This Paschal or Honourable Fast is fasted more strictly and the days of the fast greatly affect the current of daily church services which we serve in our holy Parishes and especially in our Monasteries.

Patriarch Kirill to chair Kiev celebrations dedicated to the Baptist of Russia

Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia is going to visit Ukraine on July 27. Such decision was taken at the Patriarch's meeting with Metropolitan Vladimir of Kiev and All Ukraine in Moscow as the latter arrived in the Russian capital to participate in the Holy Synod, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church press-service has told Interfax-Religion on Tuesday.
