Amsterdam Romanov exhibition to include personal items, murder weapon

The Netherland’s Hermitage Amsterdam museum will be running the exhibition “1917. Romanovs & Revolution. The End of Monarchy” from February 4 to 17, featuring a number of the last royal family’s personal items, and one of the murder weapons used to martyr Tsar Nicholas II and his family. This will be the only showing of the exhibition in Western Europe.

Ukrainian authorities have banned the screening of Russian films at international Orthodox film festival

the Ukrainian Authorities have banned the screening of Russian films in the annual international festival of documentary films “Chinoisserie on the Dnieper”.

“Yesterday we opened Kinabalu, but all movies Russia banned. Russian Directors we apologized, they had to return the tickets and cancel the arrival of the festival”, – told the correspondent of “Interfax-Religion” on Friday honoured cultural worker of Ukraine, artistic Director of the Orthodox culture Centre “Lestvitsa” Archpriest Igor Sobko, which is organizing this festival together with the diocese.

New Head of Protocol appointed for the Patriarchal Administration

During its session held Thursday, 19 January 2017, the Standing National Church Council appointed Rev. Dr Michael Tița as Head of Protocol for the Patriarchal Administration. Patriarchal Adviser Michael Tița will be responsible for inter-Orthodox, inter-Christian and inter-religious relations, as well as for the relations of the Romanian Patriarchate with state institutions (Presidency, Parliament, Govern etc.) and foreign embassies accredited in Bucharest.

Monk Joseph (Lambertsen), prolific Church translator, reposes

On Friday, January 27, Monk Joseph (in the world Reader Isaac Lambertsen), longtime laborer and gifted translator of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, reposed at age 67 after battling cancer, a Reddit site entitled OrthodoxChristianity has informed:

Edward Lambertsen was born on October 22, 1949. He grew up in the town of Scotch Plains, NJ, where he graduated high school in 1967. He was received into the Orthodox Faith with the name Isaac, and attended Holy Trinity Orthodox Seminary in Jordanville, NY. After graduating in 1977, he began working for the ROCOR Synod of Bishops.

President of the Government of the Republic of Serbia Mr. Aleksandar Vucic visited the church of All Saints in Minsk on 27 January 2017, where he talked with the clergy, which presented to him a big icon of John the Baptist - the gift for the Saint Sava Cathedral in Belgrade. 

Serbian Prime Minister gave an icon of the Three-handed Theotokos as a gift to the church in MInsk.

On 6th January 2016, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, together with His Eminence Narkissos, Patriarchal Vicar of Alexandria and His Grace Agathonikos, Bishop of Arusha and Central Tanzania, officiated at Orthros, conducted the festal Divine Liturgy and the Service of the Great Sanctification of Water, at the Holy Church of the Annunciation of the Theotokos in Alexandria, in the presence of His Excellency the Ambassador of Cyprus in Egypt Mr. Haris Moritsis, the Honourable Consul General of Greece in Alexandria Mr. Emmanuel Kakavelakis, representatives of the Hellenic Community, the Cypriot Brotherhood, Hellenic Societies and agents of the Great City, as well as many God-loving Christians.
