His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Pavle received this day at the Patriarchate, Her Royal Highness Princess Linda, wife of the late Prince Tomislav Karadjordjevic, together with their sons, Prince George and Prince Michael. Accompanying Their Royal Highnesses was Mr. Aleksandar Pavic, Director of the Prince Tomislav Foundation.

   

Appeal Of Serbian Patriarch Pavle to the Secretary General of UN and its High Representatives in Bosnia And Herzegovina

His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Pavle addressed today a letter to Mr. Kofi Anan, Secretary General of the United Nations, Lord Paddy Ashdown, High Representative of the UN for Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as to General Virgil L. Packett II, Commander-in-Chief of SFOR in Bosnia and Herzegovina, expressing his deep dismay at some embarrassing events, which took place at Pale during the Christmas holidays, on 9 and 10 January 2004.

Namely, the peacekeeping soldiers of SFOR, searched the premises of the Church and rectory in Pale, the night of 10 and 11 January 2004, given the explanation that they were apprehending persons suspected of war crimes and their accomplices. In Patriarch Pavle's letter, among all is stated:

OF ST LAZARUS CHURCH FROM SYDNEY

Serbian Patriarch Pavle received in the Protection of the Mother of God church hall on 25 January 2004, a guest choir from Atalanta led by its director and a proven friend of the Serbian people, Nikos Euthimiades. The Patriarch welcomed and blessed the Greek choir members underscoring that the Serbian people are always mindful of having received their Orthodoxy from the great Greek people. The “Harmony” Choir presented His Holiness with a silver clad icon of Jesus Christ. In conversing with Mr. Euthimiades, the Serbian Patriarch pointed out the significance of further promoting cultural links between the Serbian and Greek peoples, especially in the field of cultivating choral music.
