St. Simeon the Myrrh-gusher celebrated in Podgorica

One hundred thousand of faithful participated in the cross-procession

After the Holy Bishops' Liturgy in honour of St. Simeon celebrated at the Cathedral of Christ's Resurrection, presided over by His Beatitude Onufrius, Metropolitan of Kiev and all Ukraine, a cross-procession was going along the streets of Podgorica, in which, as estimated, one hundred thousand believers participated (photo gallery).

In the organization of the Old Loznica Church Community, the congregation gathered at the Church of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos in Loznica, on 27th February 2020, thus expressing their protest over the adoption of the Law on Freedom of Religion in Montenegro.

At first, a prayer of supplication to God for the protection of Serbian people and their shrines in Montenegro was officiated by His Grace Lavrentije, Bishop of Sabac, concelebrating it with the clergy of Diocese of Sabac. Afterwards a magnificent procession of the faithful led by His Grace Lavrentije set off through the streets of Loznica while an endless procession of the faithful were chanting troparia and prayers, and the very well-known shout “We won’t give up our shrines” could be often heard. There were lots of children with their parents in the procession as well as school children from elementary and secondary schools. The message was sent that Loznica had always remembered our shrines not only in Montenegro but in all Serbian countries as well.

Ukraininan Metropolitan Onuphrius headed a cross procession in Podgorica

His Beatitude Onuphrius, Metropolitan of Kiev and all Ukraine, arrived to the capital city of Montenegro, Podgorica, on 27 February 2020, starting thereby his friendly visit to the Serbian Church in Montenegro and its Metropolitanatae of Montenegro-Littoral.

The high church dignitary, His Beatitude Onuphrius was welcome in front of the Podgorica Cathedral of Christ's Resurrection by clergy and monastics as well as by a huge number of the  faithful.

Serbian Patriarch visits the United States of America

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, will stay in the United States of America from 27 February until 5 March 2020.

His Holiness Irinej will preside over the Church Assembly of the Serbian Orthodox Church in North and South Americas in Clearwater, Florida on 29 February 2020.  In addition, the Serbian Patriarch will visit parishes of our Church in Miami, Washington and New York. His Holiness is accompanied by a member of the Holy Synod of Bishops, His Grace Bishop Jovan of Sumadija, and protodeacon Damjan Bozic, PhD.

Metropolitan of Kiyev and all Ukraine visiting the Serbian Church in Montenegro

His Beatitude Metropolitan of Kiyev and all Ukraine Onuphrius will visit Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral on 27th February 2020.

His Beatitude Onuphrius will be welcomed with a solemn doxology at 6 p.m. at the Orthodox Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Podgorica, from where His Beatitude and His Eminence Amfilohije, the Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral, will head the cross introit procession along the streets of Podgorica and thus support the righteous struggle of the faithful against the discriminatory Law on Freedom of Religion in Montenegro.

Patron Saint of the Chapel of Saint Simeon the Myrrh-Gusher celebrated

The Patron Saint-day of the chapel of Saint Simeon the Myrrh-Gusher in the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade was celebrated with the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in prayerful presence of His Grace Bishop Lavrentije of Sabac on 26 February 2020.

The Holy Liturgy was celebrated by Archimandrite Serafim (Kuzic), protopresbyter-staurophors Mirko Vilotic, Slobodan Milunovic, Miroslav Milenkovic and Stojadin Pavlovic, presbyters Dimitrije Veljkovic and Igor Gracun, protodeacon Radomir Percevic and deacon Aleksandar Sekulic.
