Matins and the Holy Hierarchical Divine Liturgy on Saturday, September 4, 2021, the feast day of the Holy Martyr Agathonicus, marked the beginning of the second day of the Diocesan Days Gathering at St. George Church in San Diego. Towards the end of the liturgy all the faithful, following in like manner of His Grace Bishop Maxim, knelt for the prayer of Invocation of the Holy Spirit. Bishop Maxim welcomed everyone at the conclusion of the liturgy noting that through the liturgical celebration everything is illumined. “We offered our thanksgiving, “ he said, “and our deliberations, and the assembly and the many ministries of the Diocese we humbly submit and offer to the Lord. Whether they will be accepted depends exclusively on Him and His love and lovingkindness“.

On Sunday, August 15th, the Gospel lesson was the feeding of the 5000 men (not including women and children). Matt. 15:32-39.  The Lord told the Apostles to “feed the people” He told them to use their hands and gather what food was available.  Then, Jesus blessed the food and everyone ate till they were satisfied.

Patriarch Porfirije at the Podgorica airport: I pray to God for this country, for this people and for all people, and I ask them to pray for me, because they are closer to God

I am leaving  this blessed country and people, I hope not for long, with mixed feelings. I am very happy because we have done the work of the Church, enthroned the Metropolitan according to the will of the Church and the people of this diocese, the people who deeply love the Church of Saint Sava.

But I am also more than sad, even horrified by the fact that there were some people in sight who intended to prevent this act of love for everyone with a sniper rifle. I thank everyone, I feel sorry for everyone who was injured in any way and I ask them for forgiveness. I pray to the Lord for this country, for this people and for all people, and I ask them to pray for me, because they are closer to God.
