Restoration of Saint Sava Cathedral Begins

It has been sixteen months since the tragic fire, which defaced the Saint Sava Cathedral in New York City on May 1st, 2016. Regardless of the dire condition of the church and the parish during this time, the faithful have persevered in their endeavor to recover this holy sanctuary and with it its community of Saint Sava. As a result, an extensive effort has been made to assess the damage and plan the restoration of this unique and significant church, which has been obtained from the Anglican Church virtually as a gift to the Holy Bishop Nicholai Velimirovich, as a token of the enduring love and friendship between the two peoples.
U.S. Ambassador meets with the Serbian Patriarch
1. September 2017 - 13:15His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, held an audience with His Excellency Ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of Serbia Mr. Kyle Scott on 31 August 2017.
Ambassador Scott expressed a gratitude to the primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church for the cordial audience during which they discussed about necessity to continue the development of cooperation among peoples in the region, as well as inter-religious dialogue at the highest level which is fully supported by the U.S. government. Serbian Patriarch Irinej thanked the distinguished guest for the visit and shown respect, wishing him and his associates all good from the Lord.
Representative of the Anglican Church meets Serbian Patriarch
1. September 2017 - 13:14His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch received High Reverend priest Robin Fox, Apocrisarius of the Diocese of Centerbury and Anglican chaplain in Belgrade.
High Reverend Robin Fox expressed his gratitude to the primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church for the cordial audience during which they discussed about current condition and status of theological education. Serbian Patriarch Irinej thanked the distinguished guest for the visit and shown respect, wishing him all good from the Lord.
New-elected Metropolitan Hrizostom of Dabar-Bosnia welcomed solemnly on Sokolac
1. September 2017 - 10:44In the church of Holy Prophet Elijah on Sokolac, on 2 September 2017, the new-elected Metropolitan Hrizostom of Dabar-Bosnia arrived at 5 p.m., followed by Bishops Fotije of Dalmatia and Longin of Mid-West America and New Gracanica.
The clergy and monks of the glorious Metropolitanate, students of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology Saint Basil of Ostrog in Foca with dean, protpresbyter-staurophor Darko Djogo, PhD, welcomed His Eminence Metropolitan. After the solemn welcome, the doxology was served in the church.
Slava of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary 2017
1. September 2017 - 9:25The celebration started with a bounty of fresh flowers adorning the church prepared by Luba Karnaookh. Saturday Vespers and Blessing of the Five Loaves was lead by Bishop Maxim, our resident clergy and two guest deacons: Deacon Vladan Radovanovich and Deacon Branislav Kedzich, professor of Theological school from Belgrade, Serbia. We were also blessed with the presence of Sister Irina a nun from monastery Gracanica in Kosovo, who made this day even more festive.
