Distinguished people receive high acknowledgments of the Serbian Church
19. February 2013 - 16:48His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, today, on 18 February 2013, handed over high distinction of the Serbian Orthodox Church to the deserved individuals for their contribution in the fields of economy, science, art, culture and for the improvement of the human rights and freedom.
For the expressed unselfish love towards the Hoy Mother Church, the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church awarded Mr. Radomir Bojanic, director of Srbijamarka – PTT Saobracaj Srbija; Mr. Rados Bajic, film director; and maestro, Mr. Bora Dugic with the Order of Saint Sava of the second degree. Mrs. Nada Milojevic, clerk of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of the Republic of Serbia was awarded with the Order of Saint Sava of the Third Degree. Professor Ivan Hiti from Varazdin was awarded with the Order of Saint Emperor Constantine. Mr. Bozidar Djurovic, actor Bozidar Djurovic and academic sculptor Ljubisa Mancic were awarded with the Order of Despot Stephen Lazarevic.
Regarding the torture on religious basis which is being performed upon Archbishop Jovan
19. February 2013 - 14:32On 14.02.2013 the analysis of prof. Mirjana Najcevska, regarding the media in the developed democratic countries and their role as controllers of the authorities in the aspect of the respect and protection of the human rights, was published.
The analysis was prepared as part of the USAID project for strengthening of the media in Macedonia – Component Service for validation of the media facts, implemented by Metamorphosis. The analysis is provided through the support of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The contents of the analysis are responsibility of the author and they do not reflect the stances of Metamorphosis, USAID or the U.S. Government.
In the analysis, prof. Mirjana Najcevska is treating the important role in the implementation of the verdicts of the European Court for Human Rights, which the media has in the developed democratic countries, and at the same time is elaborating the state in which the media in R. Macedonia are found, in regard to the mentioned subject.
Liturgical gatherings in Venezuela
18. February 2013 - 16:51Maraquai – Presbyters Aleksandar Djurdjevic and Antonio Garcia celebrated the Holy Hiearchal Liturgy along with the choir that sang responses at the church of Saint John the Baptist in Maracai. Following the Holy Liturgy there was a traditional agape dinner.
Caracas – On the feast day of the Meeting of the Lord at the Russian church of Saint Nicholas the Holy Liturgy was served by local priests. The choir of the Russian St. Nicholas church sang responses.
The Meeting of the Lord at Orasac
18. February 2013 - 12:55The feast day of the Meeting of the Lord – Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia also this year was solemnly celebrated аt historic Orasac.
The celebration of this great feast day of the Church of Christ began with the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy celebrated by Bishop Jovan of Sumadia with the concelebration of episcopal deans of Orasac and Topola and its clergy. Attending the Holy Liturgy there were Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Aleksandar Karadjordjevic and Princess Katherine, Mr. Velimir Ilic, Minister of Construction and Urbanism, Mr. Bojan Radovic, president of the Municipality of Mladenovac, as well as other personalities.
New York: Hilandar – Heritage and Restoration
14. February 2013 - 14:22With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Mitrophan, the exhibition “Hilandar – Heritage and Restoration” was solemnly opened on 9 February 2013. The exhibition is co-organized by the Cathedral Church of Saint Sava in New York and the Foundation of the Holy Monastery of Hilandar from Belgrade and will be opened until 5 May 2013 at the parish house of Saint Sava church on Manhattan (15W 25th Street).
Metropolitan Jovan visits University of Zagreb
13. February 2013 - 16:02On Thursday, 6 February 2013, Metropolitan Jovan of Zagreb-Ljubljana accompanied by Dr. Slobodan Uzelac and priest Aleksandar Obradovic, visited the University of Zagreb. Professor Dr. Sci. Aleksandar Bjelis, rector of the University of Zagreb, with his associates cordially welcomed His Grace Bishop Jovan. They talked about possibilities of cooperation between the University and the Serbian Orthodox Church.
