After 1200 years they build a new church

Prokuplje will get, after 12 centuries, a new church, hierarchal deputy of Toplica Lazar Barac said today. In Prokuplje there is now the church of St. Procopius, built  at the end of 9th century. The saint after which the church got the name was buried there and it is one of the oldest churches in Serbia. 

Now, with a blessing of Patriarch Irinej, within the territory of the Prokuplje hospital a construction of a church Sts. Cosmas and Damian, and the local administration decided to also begin with a construction of a church of St. George, said Barac.

Bishop Joanikije serves in Djurdjevi Stupovi monastery

His Grace Bishop Joanikije of Budimlje-Niksic served on Sunday, August 14 on the feast day of  the Procession of the Cross, the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the monastery of Djurdjevi Stupovi. His Grace Bishop was concelebrated by several priests of the hierarchal regency of Berane and monks of the monastery of Djurdjevi Stupovi.

Zlatesh – a new monastery of the Diocese of Budimlje-Niksic

With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Joanikije of Budimlje-Niksic, the church of St. Prophet Elijah in a village of Tomashevo near Bijelo Polje, was transformed into a monastery, and for the heugomen of this holy place hieromonk Epifanije Vuckovic was chosen. 

In the evening of the feast day of St. Elijah the vesper service in this church was served by protopresbyter-staurophor Mirash Bogavac. The service was attended by His Grace Bishop Joanikije, who held a sermon to the gathered faithful in which he said that the old parish church in Tomashevo, now was transformed into a monastery, which would bear a name Zlatesh, as the Vranes valley used to be called once.

Patron Saint's Day of Herceg Novi

His Eminence Amfilohije Archbishop of Cetinje and Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral served the Hierarchal Divine Liturgy at the monastery of Savina, on the occasion of the feast day of the Transfer of relics of Saint Great martyr and Archdeacon Stefan, the Patron Saint's Day of the city council of the city of Herceg Novi.

During the Liturgy the Bishop baptized small Luka Jovicevic, a son of the consul of the Republic of Serbia Mrs. Marina Jovicevic.

Hierarchal Liturgy in Theotokos monastery

Ninth week after Pentecost, the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the Three-handed Theotokos monastery in Donje Budacko was served by His Grace Bishop Gerasim of Gornji Karlovac with the concelebration of hieromonk Naum. Bishop Gerasim today blessed and consecrated the maden frescoes in the Cathedral monastery church of Sts. Peter and Paul the Apostles. 

Patron Saint's Day of Banjska Monastery

In the Banjska monastery the monastery slava was solemnly celebrated - the transfer of the relics of Saint Great Martyr and Archdeacon Stefan. The Divine Liturgy was served by His Grace Bishop Teodosije of Raska-Prizren and Kosovo-Metohija with the concelebration of twenty priests: protopresbyter-staurophors Radivoje Panic and Miljko Koricanin from Belgrade, heugomen and hieromonks of Kosovo-metohija's and Raska's monasteris as well as priests of the regencies of Mitrovica and Novipazar.
