Parish slava in Niagara Falls
9. August 2011 - 10:35The St. Elijah the Prophet parish in Niagara Falls, Ontario is specific according to many things. It was founded a little over two years by faithful Orthodox Christians from the Niagara Falls region who didn't want their church to be anything more than a place of religious worship. Since for many years they didn't have a place to pray to God they requested of His Grace Bishop Georgije of Canada to allow them to found a new parish. Understanding their desires Bishop Georgije founded the parish which he dedicated to the Holy Prophet Elijah, of the greatest zealous prophets of the Old Testament.
Church slava celebrated in Kelowna
9. August 2011 - 10:19The St. Elijah the Prophet Serbian Orthodox parish in Kelowna, British Columbia festively celebrated their Church Slava. As in previous years the celebration began on Saturday, July 30th with the traditional folk festivities "Serbian Days" in the beautiful Stratchon Park on Lake Ocanagan. All those who attended, not only from British Columbia but Alberta as well, were able to enjoy the rich cultural, art and entertaining program together with many specialties from the Serbian kitchen as well as barbaqued specialties.
Divine Liturgy and Serbfest in Chicago

August 2011 - 10:13In conjunction with the 20th Annual SerbFest at Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Chicago, His Grace Bishop Longin of Midwestern America and New Gracanica presided over a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy on Sunday, August 7th, 2011, with the concelebration of esteemed guest hierarch, His Grace Bishop Peter of Clevelend (Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia), the following priests: V. Rev. Vasilije Sokolovic, V. Rev. Lazar Kostur, Rev. Darko Spasojevic – Cathedral Dean, Rev. Radovan Jakovljevic, Rev. Vasilije Vranic, Rev. Dragan Micanovic, as well as deacons: Rev. Vadim Gan, Rev. Dr. Damjan S. Bozic, Rev. Teodor Sokolovic, and Rev. Nikolai Kostur. The Very Reverend Dennis Pavichevich, retired Dean of Holy Resurrection Cathedral, also attended the Liturgy.
Memorial for persecutions of new martyrs

August 2011 - 10:02On Sunday, August 7, on the feast of the Dormition of Righteous Anna, the Holy Hierarchical Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the Holy Transfiguration Monastery in Milton, Ontario officiated by His Grace Bishop Georgije of Canada. Concelebrating with the bishop were: V. Rev. Vasa Pejovic from Kichener, V. Rev. Milojko Dimitric from London, Rev. Milos Puric from Toronto, Hieromonk Vasilje, the abbot of the monastery and Deacon Stefan Ikonomovsky and Deacon Damjan Radojcic.

To effectively consign to writing a word on the history of the Serbian Diaspora, from the first Serbian immigrants to the final emigrant waves, is in fact to note the efforts and endeavours of a people, of individuals and their communities, who through their common union and common experience desire to create, and often recreate, stabilise and develop a new life; one which will retain for posterity the essential elements of their former lives and experiences, as for their generation so also for succeeding generations.
