“Children of immortality” on the Internet

On the occasion of prayerful and commemorative festivities which lasted until 23 January 2013 in Novi Sad and that marked, on the highest state and church level, the seventieth anniversary of Novi Sad Raid which the Hungarian occupiers performed in January 1942, the Television production of the Diocese of Backa, with the blessing of His Grace Bishop Dr Irinej of Backa put on the You Tube website a documentary called “The Children of Immortality”.

With the blessing of His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, the Institute for Schoolbooks and Teaching Aid published a capital work – “Saint Sava in Russian Imperial Chronicle”. Mr. Milovan Vitezovic is an editor and Mrs. Miljenka Vitezovic translated the book from Old Russian. The book was presented on 21 January 2013 at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade.

Christianity in Niš Throughout Centuries

The exhibition entitled Christianity in Niš throughout Centuries was opened at the Synagogue gallery in Niš on 10 January 2013. Besides the high dignitaries of the city of Niš, there was also present His Grace Bishop Jovan of Niš, who delivered the welcome speech.

Thessaloniki declares 2013 the Year of Saints Cyril and Methodius, Enlighteners of the Slavs

The year 2013 in Thessaloniki, Greece will be devoted to Saints Cyril and Methodius, Enlighteners of the Slavic nations, reports "Romfeya."  The decision to celebrate the memory of the enlighteners of the Slavs in their native city was made in connection with the 1150th anniversary of their chief missionary feat - making the first Slavic alphabet in 863.

A large international symposium is planned to be held in Thessaloniki  -- probably in the second quarter of 2013.  Paralleling the  Symposium Thessaloniki 's Municipality is planning to organize an exhibition about the missionary work of the Thessalonican brothers and their era. The exhibition is expected to last until 2014; not only residents of Greece, but also those of countries visited by the missionary brothers, Enlighteners of the Slavs,: Serbia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine and Russia will have a chance to become acquainted with the exhibit.

Honoring the 160th anniversary of the First Belgrade Singing Society, the
Cathedral Church in Belgrade organized the New Year’s charitable concert of
spiritual and national music at Dom Sindikata.

The First Belgrade Singing Society was founded in 1853 and its rich history
tells the story of national and cultural creation of our country and represents
the spiritual and artistic source of the Serbian modern music. Supported by the
Serbian Orthodox Church and under the patronage of His Holiness Irinej, Serbian
Patriarch, this oldest choir is the royal ambassador of Serbian culture.
