Alumnus Publishes Reflections on Major Feasts

SVOTS alumnus Fr. Rodney Torbic ('01 D.Min.) started out simply collecting notes for his adult education classes at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Carmichaels, Pennsylvania. He ended up publishing a book. His recently released title, Reflections on the Major Feasts, was deemed worthy of publication by the Clergy Brotherhood of the Serbian Orthodox Church in North and South America in December 2010.

Russian exhibition opens in Mexico

An exhibition of Russian icons and photographs opened its doors in the Mexican city of Toluki on Thursday in an event that coincided with the 65th birthday of Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill.

Earlier, Metropolitan Antony of Mexico, Venezuela and the Caribbean, for his part, expressed hope that the exhibition will help Mexicans get a better understanding of Russian spiritual culture.

Solemn Academy with regard to 175 years of the Seminary of St. Sava in Belgrade

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch attended last night in the amphitheater of the Faculty of the Orthodox Theology of the University of Belgrade the solemn academy regarding 175 years of the St. Sava Seminary in Belgrade. Following the welcoming speech of protopresbyter-staurophor Dragan Protic, the dean of the Seminary, there was an inspired St.Sava speech of Goran Radenkovic, the professor of the Seminary.  

 

Frescoes from Bodjani in Szentendre

The exhibition of copies of wall painting from monastery of Budjani, from collection of the Galery of Matica Srpska in Novi Sad, will be opened in the Serbian church museum in Szentendre, near Budapest, the organizers have announced.

It will be an opportunity that in former center of the Serbs in Hungary, and today the center of the Diocese of Budim of the Serbian Orthodox Church, to represent a part of Serbian cultural heritage, as well as to support the Serbian minority in this neighbouring country, the Provincial Secretary for Culture at the media conference.   

In honour of Katarina Ivanovic

On the occasion of 200 years of birth of Katarina Ivanovic, Matica Srpska organized an electronic exhibition of her works from its collections. The paintings of the first Serbian woman painter are available on the website of the Library and on the CD.

„Golden Knight“ to Ljiljana Habjanovic Djurovic

In Russia, in the town of Tula, within the Film Festival "Golden Knight" a five-day Second Slav Literary Forum was held with the support of the president of the Russian Federation, President of the Assembly of the Russian Federation, Minister of Culture and under the patronage of Patriarch Kyrril of Moscow and All Russia. For the motto of the Festival the words of St. Sergei Radonjeski were selected: "Help ourselves with love and togetherness".
