Primate of Serbian Church thanks Patriarch Kirill for hospitality during his peace visit and celebration marking 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus’

His Holiness Patriarch Irenaios of Serbia, after his visit to the Russian Orthodox Church in July 2013, sent a letter of thanks to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. The letter states in particular:

‘By God’s blessing and through the virtues of Your Holiness as a generous host and the selfless work of the whole Russian Orthodox Church, we made our peace visit to our most holy sister Russian Orthodox Church and also took part in the celebrations on the occasion of the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus’ by the Holy Prince Vladimir Equal-to-the-Apostles’

Archbishop Chrysostomos: Rich is he who has Christ in his heart

The celebrations marking the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus’ in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus were over in the end of July. His Grace Bishop Irinej of the Serbian Orthodox Metropolitanate of Australia and New Zealand, together with His Excellency Consul General of Serbia to Australia, Mr Branko Radosevic, and the Honourable Ms Gabrielle Upton MP, Member for Vaucluse and Parliamentary Secretary for Tertiary Education & Skills, representing the Serbian Community, were among the numerous dignitaries and guests invited by the Honourable Victor Dominello MP, Minister for Citizenship and Communities and Minister for Aboriginal Affairs at the Inaugural New South Wales Human Rights Awards Presentation Ceremony, held on 22 August 2013 in Parliament House in Sydney.

Pope Francis arrives in Rio de Janeiro

Pope Francis has left Rome for his 12 hour flight to Rio de Janeiro, where he will attend the 28th World Youth Day. The Holy Father carried his own bag onto the plane. Pope Francis will spend all but one day of his week-long journey in the Brazilian city hosting the event.

During his week-long visit, Francis will see the faces of Brazil's success and struggles, starting with a meeting Monday with President Dilma Rousseff and followed by a visit to one of Rio's sprawling favelas, or slums, on Thursday.

The first children Orthodox camp to open in Portugal

The Divine Liturgy was served on July 4 in the inter-parish camp organized by the Sunday school of the All Saints parish in Lisbon, reports the website of the parish.

Under the leadership of the camp director Inna Siryk and tutors Edward Kupinsky and Antonina Pishunova, the children of parishioners from Lisbon, Cascais and Porto are having their holidays at the present time in the country, in a remote plains district of the Alentejo province in the south Portugal.

The largest monastic library now opened for visiting at night

The largest Monastery library in the world which is situated in the Austrian Admont Abbey is inviting people to attend a series of events named "A night in the library". The organizers are offering eight meetings in July and August and the participants of the meetings will be able to familiarize themselves with the library's history and its richest collection.
