Catholic priest killed in Syria

In Syrian region of Idlib, southeast of Aleppo, on Sunday armed rebels killed Catholic monk. This was confirmed by sources among Jerusalemite Franciscans. During an attack of the rebels on one Christian village a 59-old Syrian hermit was killed. The monastery itself was robbed. One other priest and a nun from the same place left the village unharmed. All other Christian also left this place. 

Ankara upset at Vatican for Pope's remarks on mass killings of Armenians

Turkey has reacted angrily to the Vatican following a statement from Pope Francis describing the mass killings of Armenians during World War I as “the first genocide of the twentieth century” during a meeting with a delegation led by Nerses Bedros XIX, Patriarch of Cilicia of Armenian Catholics on June 3.

Return of church property confiscated by communists to begin in the Czech Republic

Return of property confiscated in the past by the communist authorities to churches will begin in the Czech Republic, reports Sedmitza.ru. The law on this issue was passed by the Czech Parliament, but left-wing parties have appealed to the Constitutional Court asking to cancel it, because in their opinion, it was not fair.

Orthodox Missionaries in Guatemala

Father David and Matushka Rozanne Rucker have been mission specialists for many years with the Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC), which has missionaries around the world under the umbrella of the Assembly of Bishops. Guatemala has seen an explosive growth of Orthodox Christianity among thousands of indigenous Mayans, so now the Ruckers will be going there to live, to train catechists and clergy and to help establish the first Orthodox seminary.

The remains of King Peter II, Queen Alexandra, Queen Maria and Prince Andrej were escorted from the Royal chapel to the Cathedral Church of St. Michael the Archangel, where His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral officiated the memorial service

After the service, remains of Their Majesties and His Royal Highness were escorted from the Royal Chapel of Saint Andrew the First-Called to The Cathedral Church of St. Michael the Archangel this morning.

Humanitarian action in Perth

Humanitarian action entitled “You can as well” was held on 9 March 2013 at the Sports Center Madington in Perth. The action had a goal to collect funds for the Humanitarian organization Ana and Vlade Divac.
