Metropolitan Christopher Laid to Rest

Assumption festivities opened with an exhibition of icons in Kragujevac

On the occasion of the Assumption, that the Cathedral Church has been celebrating for 140 years as a church Patron`s feast day, the priesthood of this church with a blessing of Bishop Jovan of Sumadija organized for the first time this in  2010 the Assumption of Our Lady festivities which would last from August 23-28 2010. The festivities began with an exhibition of the works of the students of the Academy of the SOC for arts and conservation from Belgrade which was opened on August 23, 2010 at 7p.m. in the Diocesan centre.

Transfiguration of Our Lord in Krka Monastery

By the tradition the feast day of the Transfiguration of Our Lord also this year was formally celebrated in the monastery of Krka. The celebration was commenced with a formal vesper service, which was served by His Grace Bishop Fotije of Dalmatia. He was concelebrated by priests and monks of the Diocese of Dalmatia.

Metropolitan Christopher of Libertyville-Chicago fell asleep in the Lord

Chicago, IL - At 7:45 this evening, Wedesday, August 18, 2010, on the eve of the feast of the Transfiguration of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, His Eminence +Christopher, Metropolitan of Libertyville-Chicago, fell asleep in the Lord at the age of 82. Clergy are asked to serve a small pomen at tomorrow's Divine Liturgy.

A memorial lunch will be served at Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, 5701 N. Redwood Drive, Chicago, IL 60631, following interment.

May the Lord our God grant blessed repose and eternal rest
to His Eminence Metropolitan Christopher.

89 years since the death of King Peter I Karadjordjevic

His Grace Bishop Jovan of Sumadija served the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy and the memorial service in Oplenac on the occasion of 89 years since the death of King Peter I Karadjordjevic.

Brotherly meeting of the priesthood of the Diocese of Raska-Prizren

A two-day traditional brotherly meeting of the priesthood of the Diocese of Raska-Prizren and Kosovo-Metohija, which was held this year in Kosovska Mitrovica, began with the Divine Liturgy in the church of St. Demetrius the Great Martyr . Locum Tenens of the Diocese, His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral served the Liturgy with the concelebration of His Grace Vicar Bishop Teodosije of Lipljan, ten priests and two deacons from the hierarchal regencies.
