Forced entry at residence of Bishop of Bihac and Petrovac

During the night between May 21 and 22, 2009 unknown robbers broke into a residence of Bishop Hrizostom of Bihac and Petrovac in Bosanski Petrovac, in spite of the fact that this building is secured by regular police patrols. An investigation is currently being conducted.

First Divine Liturgy in one of the oldest Serbian Orthodox Churches

On the Slava of St. Vasilije of the St. Basil of Ostrog parish in Angels Camp, May 2nd, Bishop Maxim had the joy of serving his first Divine Liturgy in one of the oldest Serbian Orthodox Churches which will celebrate its 100th anniversary next May. His Grace, Bishop Maxim was warmly received and truly enjoyed the fellowship and liturgical services with Iguman Gerasim of Platina ,Fr. Miladin Garic, Fr. William Weir and Protodeacon Triva Pavlov.

Patriotic young Serbs march in Sydney's ANZAC Day Parade

On Bright Saturday, 25 April 2009, for the first time many young Serbian men joined ranks in the traditional ANZAC Day March in Sydney. Approximately 50 new marchers came by bus to honour their forefathers and fathers, the Serbian Chetniks who fought in World War II as allies of Australia. The group consisted of varying community members: lawyers, builders, scientists and the like from a range of parishes: Lazarica in Alexandria, St George in Cabramatta, St. Stephen in Rooty Hill, etc.

St.Sava College – The Next Step Forward

In the weeks leading up to Pascha, His Grace Bishop Irinej extended a heartfelt invitation to a number of individuals within the community to find their place and to offer their expertise and enthusiasm for a project which he said is, "perhaps the greatest challenge that our Serbian Orthodox Church in Sydney has undertaken, but one which is surely destined to become her greatest joy," referring to St.Sava College.

Bishop Irinej presides at Paschal Vespers at the Russian Orthodox Church in Dandenong

His Grace Bishop Irinej of Australia and New Zealand, accompanied by Archimandrite Lazar (Caran) of the St. Sava Monastery in Elaine, participated in the celebration of Paschal Vespers on the Great Feast of the Resurrection of Our Lord at the Russian Orthodox Church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos in Dandenong, Victoria The services were led by the Very Rev. Mitred Archpriest Dr. Michael Protapopov, Dean of Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia, joined by other local hieromonks and deacons.

Bishop Maxim celebrates Pascha at St. Stevan's Cathedral

On Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 11pm His Grace Bishop Maxim of Western America concelebrated the Paschal Matins and the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy with Fr. Nicholas Ceko, Fr. Lazar Vasiljevic, Fr. Ilija Dajkovic, Fr. Norman Kosanovic and Hierodeacon Elisha Kapor and the parishioners of the Saint Steven's Cathedral in Alhambra, California.
