20th Triennial Sabor – Opening and Greetings

The 20th Triennial Church Assembly (Sabor) of the Serbian Orthodox Church in North and South America began on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at St. George Church in Canton, Ohio with the Divine Liturgy. A good number of clergy and delegates began their work with receiving the Holy Eucharist.  The Invocation of Holy Spirit was then served by His Grace Bishop Dr. Mitrophan.

The 20th Triennial Church Assembly (Sabor) of the Serbian Orthodox Church in North and South America is set to begin on August 11, 2009 at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Canton, Ohio. The Assembly brings together the hierarchs, clergy, congregation board presidents and congregation delegates from all five dioceses of the Serbian Orthodox Church in America.

Half a millennia of Monastery of Krushedol

The Serbian Orthodox Church, Diocese of Srem and Monastery of Krushedol celebrated a great jubilee - five centuries, half a millennia of the existence of this great Serbian sanctuary.

Funeral service for Slobodan Danko Popovic

His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral and His Grace Bishop Jovan of Shumadija served yesterday, on August 11, 2009, at the church at Bukovica in Arandjelovac, the funeral service for the reposed academician Slobodan Danko Popovic. The hierarchs served with the concelebration of twenty priests and seven deacons. Their Highnesses Prince Vladimir and Princess Brigita attended the funeral service as well as many academicians, politicians, representatives of cultural and art life of Serbia.

St.Sava College on the move

The next stage in the development of the Serbian Orthodox Diocese's St.Sava College (SSC) in south-west Sydney is about to go ahead. On Sunday the 9th of August, His Grace Bishop Irinej, together with Father Rade Radan and Deacons Sasha Colic and Branko Bosancic, served the Divine Liturgy on the foundations of St.Sava College. At the conclusion of the service, his Grace presented a cheque to the value of $1.8 million dollars to the former owner of the property Mr s Helen henry and with that payed out the loan with which the property was purchased five years ago, for a total sum of $3.6 million dollars.
