Who is Patriarch Pavle? What is his ministry and will be canonized as a saint? The team of Dobrotoliubie talks with protodeakon Radomir Rakic, who personally knew the  Serbian patriarch.

Protodeacon Radomir Rakić was born on July 25, 1938. He graduated the Faculty of Theology in 1962 and the Faculty of Philology  Department of English 1965 in Belgrade. He is a professor of English language and Literature. Meanwhile, he studied at the Theological Faculty in Bern (Switzerland). He speaks German, English, and Russian languages, from which he translates theological literature. Protodeacon Radomir Rakić is a professor at the Faculty of Theology of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Belgrade and a New Testament lecturer at the Theological seminary in Serbia (Foca) and an official translator of the Holy Synod in the Serbian Patriarchate.<--break->

On Sunday morning of November 3, 2019, the clergy and the faithful greeted Bishop Maxim at St. Sava Church in Issaquah, and with the ringing of bells and singing of hymns together entered the Church.

On Sunday, October 27, 2019, the Sunday of the Holy Fathers of the VII Ecumencial Council and feast day of the Venerable Mother Paraskeva, St. Petka, the Christ-loving faithful of San Marcos, California gathered around their diocesan bishop, His Grace Bishop Maxim of Western America, to celebrate their altar feast, St. Petka.

Matins was served by parish clergy Protopresbyter Milovan Katanic and deacon David John-Williams. The Holy Hierarchical Divine Liturgy was officiated by Bishop Maxim with the aforementioned clergy. Joining them was Episcopal deacon and secretary deacon Vladan Radovanovic.

The year of the Lord 2019 is the year of jubilee for the fullness of the Serbian Orthodox Church. In the preceding months, many other dioceses and parishes of our Holy Church have celebrated the 800th Anniversary of the Autocephaly of the Serbian Orthodox Church at a local level.

On November 1st and 2nd, this important jubilee was celebrated on the Diocesan level in our Eastern America Diocese along with the 130th anniversary of the birth of Saint Mardarije of Libertyville and all America. By the Episcopal Proclamation of His Grace Bishop Irinej, November 2nd, the feast day of St. Mardarije, is to be celebrated annually in all parishes of the Eastern American Diocese.
