Serbian Patriarch Irinej consecrated the church of Holy Apostles Peter and Paul at Kucanci

November 2019 - 13:48In the birthplace of Patriarch Pavle of blessed repose, some two thousand people from several dioceses of the Serbian Orthodox Church gathered in the morning hours on the feast day of Saint George, November 16, 2019, to participate in the solemn act of consecrating the Holy Apostles church at Kucanci (photo gallery).
His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, arrived, accompanied by His Grace Bishop Jovan of Slavonia and other hierarchs, arrived in the churchyard, where the ceremonial gauntlet consisted of the Guardians of the Tomb of Christ, women dressed in Slavonian folk costume, pious people from the Diocese of Slavonia with clergy, monastics and guests from all over Serbia.
Patron Saint-day of Novi Sad celebrated
18. November 2019 - 12:11Patron Saint-day of Novi Sad – The restoration of the church of Saint George the Great Martyr was marked with the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy and a solemn academy.
His Grace Bishop Irinej of Backa officiated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy with concelebration of His Grace Bishop Isihije of Mohacs and the clergy of the Diocese of Backa in the church of Saint George in Novi Sad on 3/16 November 2019. The Liturgy was attended by Mr. Milos Vucevic, Mayor of Novi Sad; Mr. Miroslav Ilic, Assistant to Provincial Secretary of Culture, Public Information and Relations with Religious Communities; Professor Dr. Dragan Stanic, President of the Matica Srpska; Mr. Selimir Radulovic, Head of the Library of the Matica Srpska; Dr. Radivoje Stojkovic, Principal of the Grammar School Jovan Jovanovic Zmaj; Mr. Zoran Vapa, Director of the Provincial Institute for Protection of Cultural Monuments; Mr. Petar Djurdjev, Director of the History Archives of the City of Novi Sad and by many other representatives of the public and cultural life of Novi Sad.
Prayerful gathering at the Serbian military cemetery in Szeged
18. November 2019 - 11:47His Grace Bishop Lukijan of Budim served on 17 November 2019 the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the church of Saint Nicholas in Szeged, Hungary.
The Bishop was concelebrated by local priests. The Holy Liturgy was prayerfully attended by Colonel Rasa Lazovic, envoy of the Defense of the Republic of Serbia in Budapest; Representative of the Embassy of Serbia to Hungary Mr. Aleksandar Loncarevic; president of the Self-government of Serbs in Hungary Mrs. Vera Pejic Sutor; Serbian member of the Hungarian Parliament Mr. Ljubomir Aleksov as well as by some faithful from Szeged and surroundings.
A festive academy in honor of the Patron Saint-day of Novi Sad, St. George
18. November 2019 - 10:11On the eve of the celebration of the Restoration of the Temple of St. George the Great Martyr, on November 15, 2019, a solemn academy under the auspices of the Church Community of Novi Sad was held at the Youth Theater.
A huge public were greeted and blessed by His Grace Irinej, Bishop of Backa. The Academy was attended by Bishop Isihije of Mohacs, clergy of the Diocese of Backa; Mr. Milos Vucevic, Mayor of Novi Sad; representatives of the First Brigade of the Serbian Armed Forces and the faithful people of Novi Sad. Dr. Milan Bandobranski delivered a festive address.
Serbian Patriarch receives Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs
15. November 2019 - 13:57His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch received His Excellency Nikos Dendias, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Greece at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade on 14 November 2019.
The audience was attended by Secretary-General of the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Greece Mr. Temistocle Demiris, Ambassador of the Republic of Greece to Belgrade Mr. Giorgos Diakofotakis, as well as Head of the Office of the Serbian Patriarch deacon Dr. Aleksandar Prascevic.

15. November 2019 - 10:22His Holiness Patriarch Pavle (Stojčević ) of Serbia (September 11, 1914-November 15, 2009) lived a long life full of Christian asceticism.
His simplicity, meekness, and humility, combined with his strict asceticism inspired the love that millions of believers had for him during his lifetime. Many already considered him a living saint, and after his repose, faith in the holiness of Patriarch Pavle is growing ever more and strengthening in the hearts of the faithful. Today marks the 10th anniversary of his falling asleep in the Lord.
Biography of Patriarch Pavle
The spiritual leader of the Serbian Orthodox people was born September 11, 1914 to Stefan and Ann Stojcevic, in the village of Kucani, in the county of Donji Miholjac, in Slavonija. His baptismal name was Gojko.
