Biography of Bishop Heruvim of Osijek-Polje and Baranja

The new elected Bishop Heruvim was born in Vukovar from father Dusan and mother Milica (born Jovkovic) on 30 July 1987. His baptismal name is Vitomir. After having finished of the primary school in Vukovar, with the blessing of the then Diocesan Bishop Lukijan of Osijek-Polje and Baranja, he enrolled the Theological Seminary of the Holy Three Hierarchs in Krka Monastery, as a pupil of the second generation after the civil war of this restored educational institution of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Croatia.
In 2006 he matriculated the Faculty of Philology, Serbian Language and Literature Department. During the studies he decided to embrace monastic way of life. The affection towards the Krka Monastery was decisive when choosing it as a place of his monastic tonsure. On the feast-day of Sts. Unmercenaries Cosmas and Damian in 2009, Bishop Fotije of Dalmatia tonsured him and gave him monastic name Heruvim, after the name of the first abbot of the Krka monastery. On the feast-day of the monastery patron-saint, Holy Archangel Michael, 21 November 2009, he was ordained hierodeacon, and on the feast-day of Holy Prince Lazar in 2010 he was ordained hieromonk.
Communique of the Diocese of Raška-prizren Regarding a Series of Incidents in the Recent Days

June 2018 - 15:25The Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Raška-Prizren strongly condemns the latest series of incidents which indicate that there is a serious deterioration of the security situation in which Serbs with their Orthodox Church live in Kosovo and Metohija.Three days ago, dozens of Kosovo Albanians attacked a group of Serbian pilgrims while they were visiting the ruins of the Holy Trinity Church in the village of Petrič near Klina and performing the Pentecost procession around the site. In a serious incident, the attackers, despite the massive police presence, attacked the pilgrims with stones and injured three Serbs.
Yesterday, in Staro Gracko village nr. Lipljan a Serbian woman and her 6-month-old baby were injured in an incident provoked by a Kosovo Albanian. Also, a group of local Albanians near Žač, Klina Municipality, intercepted the vehicle of the local Serbian Orthodox priest, Fr. Stevan Marković, who was returning with his family from the service at Peć Patriarchate Monastery. They first blocked the road and then, when a larger group gathered, began hitting the car and broke the windshield. Both 5-year-old twins of the priest and his wife suffered shock from the incident, especially when one of the local attackers threatened to bring weapons.
Serbian Patriarch received Ambassador of France
7. June 2018 - 12:13His Holiness Irinej received His Excellency Frédéric Mondoloni, Ambassador of France to Serbia, at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade on 6 June 2018.
His Excellency Mondolini thanked His Holiness for the cordial audience during which they discussed about marking the centenary since the end of the First World War, during which Serbian and French soldiers endured heroic feat in the fight against the invader. The Serbian Patriarch thanked the Ambassador for the visit and his efforts to foster friendly relations between the peoples of France and Serbia.
Serbian Patriarch receives Ambassador of Egypt
7. June 2018 - 12:12Serbian Patriarch Irinej received His Excellency Amr Aljowaily, Ambassador of Egypt to the Republic of Serbia, at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade on 6 June 2018.
His Excellency Aljowaily thanked His Holiness for the cordial reception during which they had conversations about possibilities offered to Serbian tourists that during their stay in Egyptian resorts they might visit Christian shrines. Serbian Patriarch Irinej thanked the distinguished Ambassador for the visit and his efforts to foster friendly relations between the peoples of Egypt and Serbia.
General Assembly of the Conference of European Churches concludes its sessions

June 2018 - 8:40After nine days of plenary sessions, business plenums, workshops, deliberations and expositions of Church dignitaries from Orthodox, Protestant, Anglican and Old Catholic Churches from Serbia and all countries of Europe, the General Assembly of the Conference of European Churches (CEC) in Novi Sad concluded its work on 5 June 2018.
Rev. Christian Krieger, President of the Reformed Church in Alsace and Lorraine and Vice-President of both the Union of Protestant Churches in Alsace and Lorraine and the Protestant Federation of France, was elected President of the Conference of European Churches. The delegates of the Serbian Orthodox Church in the Conference of European Churches are: Professor Srboljub Ubiparipović, PhD, Lecturer at the Department of Liturgics of the Orthodox Theological Faculty at the University of Belgrade; post-graduate students of theology Nikola Mutavdzic and Ognjen Zvekic as well as Julija Vidovic, ThD.
High Representatives of the Ecumenical Patriarchate received by the Serbian Patriarch
6. June 2018 - 13:10His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, received a delegation of the Ecumenical Patriarchate led by His Eminence Metropolitan Emanuel of Gaul at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade on 5 June 2018.
His Eminence Metropolitan Emanuel thanked His Holiness for the cordial audience during which a conversation about the current relations of the Local Orthodox Churches was held. From his side, Patriarch Irinej expressed his gratitude to His Eminence Metropolitan for the visit and his efforts to establish close ties between the Patriarchate of Constantinople and the Serbian Orthodox Patriarchate.
