Serbian Patriarch officiated Paschal Liturgy in the Crypt of St. Sava’s
18. April 2017 - 15:32His Holiness, Archbishop of Pec, Metropolitan of Belgrade-Karlovci and Serbian Patriarch Irinej presided over the Easter Liturgy in the crypt of the Church of Saint Sava in Belgrade on 16 April 2017.
The triumphant Easter Liturgy was attended by His Grace Bishop Arsenije of Toplica, Crown Prince Aleksandar and Princess Katarina Karadjordjevic, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Ivica Dacic, the apostolic nuncio Luciano Suriano, Director of the Office for Cooperation with Churches and Religious Communities Dr. Mileta Radojevic, a great benefactor of the Serbian Church Ms. Rebecca MacDonald, representatives of the diplomatic corps and traditional Churches and religious communities, as well as by many pious people of the Serbian capital.
Paschal Choral Concert in Belgrade

April 2017 - 15:29With the blessing of His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irenej, a traditional Paschal concert with participation of many Orthodox choirs was held in Saint Sava’s Church in Belgrade on the Easter evening, 16 April 2017. The concert was performed under St. Paul’s words: ‘O death, where is thy sting? Where is thy victory? (1 Cor. 15: 55).
The concert was opened by a homily delivered by Bishop Arsenije of Toplica, vicar Bishop of the Serbian Patriarch and principal of St. Sava’s Church. A great number of choirs participated sharing the joy of the Resurrection of Christ with a large audience. Traditional church hymns, spiritual compositions of Serbian and Russian authors dedicated to the Feast-day of Resurrection, as well as other spiritual and patriotic hymns were on the program.

Ordination of Joseph Wesseler to the Diaconate

On Great and Holy Thursday, during the Vesperal Liturgy of Saint Basil, Joseph Robert Wesseler was ordained to the Holy Diaconate by His Grace Bishop Irinej of Eastern America of the Serbian Orthodox Church at St. Vladimir’s Seminary in Crestwood, NY.
The newly-ordained Deacon Joseph is a third-year seminarian hailing from the Diocese of Western America with his home parish being St. Peter the Apostle Serbian Orthodox Church in Fresno, CA. He is expected to graduate with a Masters of Divinity in May.

April 2017 - 7:53On Saturday the 15th and Sunday the 16th of April, the feast of the Glorious Resurrection of Christ - Pascha, Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern American & New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, led the festal divine services in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City.
His Eminence was co-served by Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, Bishop Irinej of Eastern America (Serbian Orthodox Church), and cathedral clergy.
